Hi everyone,
Just thought I would give you a quick update. I have safely moved into my new abode and made it homely. This month I should be getting my deposit back but I am prepared for a battle with the LL. I may just let it go if it's not too much as I should focus on positive things from here on in. I have worked out how much I'll be paying my new flatmate each month and I am hoping that I'll be able to show you a good saving at the end of March. I certainly had a good saving for the month of February and who knows what March will bring. I endeavour to do a full report at the end of March!

@zippygeorgeandben hurray for you and all new beginnings! Know what you mean about only positives but I'd be happy to talk to the old ll if you're too busy, just for fun. I'm known as an expert complainer; without wanting to blow my own trumpet, it's rare that I don't get compensation. One of my favourite cases was with a telecomms co; they ended up paying me several times more than Ofcom suggested. I'd love to help even slightly as a small thank you for the hours of wonder and enjoyment I've had from your diary. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger x1

Brilliant offer Humdinger! Congrats on your move being accomplished so well Zippy and on getting full use out of your bike.
Are you hoping to buy your own place at some point? Did you hear about the new scheme to help buyers with 5% deposits get a 95% mortgage? Doesn't have to be new builds either unlike Help to Buy, which I thought was more a boost for new flat builders. H to B has also been shown to have increased property prices according to the FT. Hello everyone,
It is time for my monthly update. First of all, I hope you had a nice Easter. Apologies for the update being a couple of days after March (I did promise at the end of March in a previous post!)
So I have now completed my first month in my new flat and managed to save....cue drum roll... £2031.59. This is made up of my HTB payment/sister savings and just general paying less on my bills. I'm really pleased with this and it was definitely the right decision to move from my old flat I was paying for on my own. I still haven't had my deposit back yet (but I'm handling this) so this will come next month (I'm 99.9% sure!). But yes, a good month which seemed to carry on for ever. I think I need to move money from my current account into my savings account so I can accrue the interest there. I suppose I should see this as a milestone, hitting £30k in savings.
