  • Calling congratulations on the arrival of your new little DGD.

Mistara - hope you've unpacked and are settling in nicely.

Thrifty see you on the other side of 2016! I hope you and your family have a great Christmas.

Abundant - don't get despondent! You've done so well with your NSDs and the nectar points!

Swimming - hope everything has improved with your little one.

I've managed 3 NSDs since Tuesday - finally! Tomorrow is Xmas Jumper day at work though. I'm using my age as an excuse to bow out of dressing up but will make a donation!:)

Quiet day in the office today. Lots of people out for their team Xmas lunches and bosses on my desk also out so just us the workers left:D. I received a lovely box of Thorntons chocs and a Waitrose/John Lewis voucher from clients so that brightened up my day.

Just finished wrapping more presents and off to bed!

Hugs to everyone who needs one or wants one.

I've had a busy, spendy but satisfying day. Apart from the travel, all today's expenditure will be coming out of my present money.

Was bathed, dressed and fed in under half an hour (realised it's been taking 2 - 3 hours). Walked to library with food bank donation, small shop a little Arseda, went to the P.O. with the overseas cards, addressed the hand delivery cards and put them in the box, then on to local history session, taking some of the finished crafty gifts. Partner was very pleased with the decorations I had left for him but very worried that I might need them.

Paid £5.20 for an all day anybus ticket, had a look round the market (wanted a plant/ flowers for mum) but was too exhausting, saw my hospital bus at the stand but another bus prevented me from crossing the last bus lane and it sailed off without me. Sat resting and drank one of the cans of diet coke I had brought from home.

Caught next bus and went to phlebotomy (where all the vampires hang out). Technician looked at my papers, one was for a urine test (doctor did not mention this and I had not picked up a sample bottle/ bag and paperwork from his receptionist). Asked if they had a spare and they decided I could have one 'just this once'. They took my blood and then the fun began.

Luckily the disabled toilet was free as the normal one is so small you have to be careful to avoid banging your elbows on the walls. Toilet seat wouldn't stay up so used left elbow to hold it, crouched over the bowl trying to catch the falling drops, my left arm across my chest so my boobs didn't impede my line of sight. Produced about 1/4 of an inch.

Have you ever stood in a strange toilet with your clothes in disarray, opening and consuming a can of coke with your left hand whilst continuing to hold the precious sample in your right. Slightly more successful this time round so only had to wash/ wipe everything and get all the bits the right way round in the package.

Took it back and deposited it in the special box. Bus had departed five minutes before so bought a newspaper from the 'friends' shop (nearly always have a book with me). Next bus home, speed wrapped mum's presents then back out to bus hop to my cousin's (card and bag of wool), then back to bus station and on to mum's (cards and presents).

Just got back after a five hour visit and she still wants me to go again before Christmas - I had said I wouldn't unless I improve a lot more or she gets ill like last year and cannot cope. Started the day with a list of eleven things to do (not necessarily today) and only have to pay a bill and make an appointment (they would have closed by the time I got back from the infirmary).

I also brought my Christmas 'trees' in from the garden after a brief tug of war with some ivy that had claimed them and made DS3 make a decision on socks so that they can be ordered (no progress on duvet covers yet). He's eaten the white chocolate bear I bought him this morning (made by local college students).

Today I am grateful for being more mobile, for the variety of ways people have chosen to decorate their homes and for the buses I managed to catch and the people who helped me. Still needed an old man to help me when I couldn't release a trolley and it wouldn't give me my pound back.

Thrifty - Happy Christmas, see you in January x

I did spend money in the supermarket yesterday, it was supposed to be just vouchers but I took DH and that is always dangerous, he and his family have the mindset of buying tons at Christmas, I did rein him in a bit though.

Last day at school for kids, dropped DD at swimming pool as she is competing in a house swimming gala today and she finishes an hour early so only 1 lesson in school for her. I will be going to DS's carol concert at school this afternoon - my last one at primary school.

Other than that today is stripping beds and washing, remaking beds, cleaning, dog walking and running. No work for me today :j.

How does that feel about the last one at primary school? Bothered or no?

    Hi everyone

Congrats Calling and Misstara have a lovely life in your new home.

Today was going really well until I went to the doctors and on my way out in the car from the car park someone backed his car out into me as I was going past him, so this afternoon I seem to have been on the phone constantly trying to sort it out. It was an elderly gentleman who was upset but didn't seem to have a clue what to do so I had to get all his information off him, give him mine and make sure he understands to phone his insurance, he was more concerned with the small scratch on his car than the dent he put in mine, but luckily for me I had a witness who gave me his phone number and spoke to my insurance when they phoned him. I do feel sorry for the gentleman - he was 87years and hope he got home ok. Anyway tomorrow my car goes in the garage and I get a hire car and hopefully I'll get it back in a couple of days. To make it worse (for me) I only bought it in th summer so it's not very old!!!!

Anyway been a spend day but Xmas is nearly all done, just to need the fresh stuff next week, oh and my dd rang yesterday and they are coming to stay with me all over the holidays, they live abroad so it will be nice but I've had to change my plans and spend a lot more money as there's three if them so that's all my Xmas money just about gone, just when I thought I'd save quite a lot of it.

    Nannyg

Oh dear sorry about your car Nanny. Sounds like the old man shouldn't be driving tbh. Harsh but they should test people more frequently as they age. For their own safety as well as the general public.
