:xmastree:NST: December 2016 : A pared back Christmas :xmastree:
As the organised bunch that we are most of us will have Christmas all sewn up by now (literally for the crafty amongst us). If you still have things to do can you scale it back in any way? Can you knock a couple of gifts on the head? Reduce your food and drink buying for the festivities? Scale back your travel to events/family? Don’t buy into the madness that the advertisers would have you believe you need. Your Christmas should be how you want it to be.
If you had a budget for Christmas, have you exceeded it already or do you expect to? What does Christmas really mean to you and yours. Do you feel out of control with it all even when you had the best intentions? Do you always start a new year with more debt than you ended the previous one. Would you like to pare things back a bit and start the New Year on the right foot?

The regular rules:
- The challenge runs from December 1st to December 31st.
- Set your own NSD target of 12 or more.
- Make a donation to a charity close to your heart… or an equivalent value of your time if more appropriate for you.
- Pay to your debt/savings first
December’s rules:
- Work out what you expect to spend on Christmas and then knock £20 off this.
- Turn down at least one festive invitation and work out what you have saved in doing so.
- Spend responsibly, think about small local businesses, charitable/ethical organisations etc rather than lining the pockets of big organisations who care about no-one.
- Try to get partners/family on board and do something free and fun together.
- Set your grocery budget including any festive extras. Try to come in £20 under it.
- Try to post as often as you can, sometimes just reading what someone else has achieved in their day motivates me and I’m sure others must feel this way too.
Who’s up for this??
