Hey guys
So how annoying is this. I was told by a dentist last month that I needed some work doing. I was 2 weeks out of the maternity excemption period. The work will cost £250.
I was stressing thinking how annoying it would be to pay that for my one filling. Then I remembered that OH gets dental insurance and he can add me from Jan 1st.
So tonight there I am eating a toffee, not even chewing it, and my filling came out. So now I have a gigantic hole in my tooth.
The question is can I last out now till January still? And how much will this filling add to the bill?
You know sometimes life just isn't fair. But after reading others news today mine is teeny tiny in comparison.

This month I'm going to aim for 15 NSDs. I've already made a donation to a DFW who is doing a trek to Machu Picchu to raise money for amnesty international and I also put some money in a sally army collection tin as they were playing carols this evening. I will try and reduce grocery and christmas budgets. I've got a few social things planned this month but will turn down anything else that comes up.
So today I went for a run down the beach after work and then popped into the supermarket on the way home. I only got a couple of food items, the rest was some christmas presents and cards. I'm making cards for family and friends but bought some to give to folk at work.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

That is annoying. A filling here is about £50 (Sco). BTW in Germany we nicknamed toffee "filling extractor".
Tonight won't be an NSD either as we'll pop to the shops after work. But I'll make a list and get enough for the weekend or even next week.
Finished my xmas cards, just need to write them now, not one of my favourite past times. Started cutting out the pieces for the fleece hats for our friends kids last two night and will sow them over the weekend. Just candles, marmalade and a bit of baking left for christmas and I'm all set. Well plus the wrapping. Better write a little action plan so I don't forget anything.

Bob - I had 2 fillings at the weekend and it cost me £37. They did ask if I wanted white fillings and that would double the price but £250 seems extortionate. You'll know best but I would image there will be discomfort if you tried to continue eating for another 4 weeks without the filling.
No NSD for me yesterday unfortunately. Today should be though as I've brought my lunch with me to work.0 -
Bob - are you with a private dentist or is it a complicated filling? I thought a filling came in the middle NHS band which is £57 ish. Hope it doesn't hurt too much.
Yesterday was a NSD. Hopefully today too.
Lots of work to do today plus stripping and washing all bedding (partly done already), dog has had one walk and will need another later and I also want to run.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Yesterday was supposed to be a NSD, but DH left the milk out. Then binned it. He said it was off. I'd have made rice pudding or scones anyway but hey ho.
So I today's grocery shop yesterday evening, but was 5 mins late getting to the PO. I need the stamps, so as long as I don't buy anything else at the attached Co-op or anything else today, I'm going to consider today a NSD and blame it on DH:D
Charity donation - I ordered the Xmas cards last month and did my Christmas donation then to Help for Heroes. You can add a gift aided donation onto the order, so more efficient than a physical one.:A (can you tell I'm a tax accountant:rotfl:)
Did most of my budgets on Wednesday, but will finalise today. I declined a dinner out last night - I went to the restaurant but drank water while we had the meeting and left before the food arrived. I was STARVING when I got home. And nearly murdere DH, but that's another story.
I only have 1 Xmas meal out booked, but have allowed for that and one other in case.
Question for all you knowledgabe people. Chana Dal - is this dried yellow split peas? Googling I keep getting 'chickpeas', but are they the same thing? I have a HUGE bag (that went out of date in 2014:o) but I'm sure they'll be fine:rotfl: I was going to make a daal for New Year, but not sure whether they would be suitable. Do I need to soak them first?
Enjoy your day everybody.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

Chana dal is split chickpeas with the skin removed. I guess that's why some recipes use split yellow peas because they are easier to buy but look similar. I would always soak dried peas etc. in water to reduce cooking time. Daal can be made from any pulse that has been split and skinned (lentils, peas, beans).DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
NSD – I will aim for 15 this month
Donation –Bought xmas cards off local cancer family support which take Children whose parents got cancer on trips to cinema etc.
Invitations My work is going to give me vouchers for a local restaurant as I hate xmas partys and the cost of outfits, taxis home.
Spend responsibly – Most presents got, was given a new handbag by a friend yesterday, never been used but she has retired now so too big for her. So going to re gift it to someone I never see all year but always buys me a present.
Grocery budget – Will do a stock take, not going mad as only me for xmas lunch. However will have family over few times before big day. I have no wine left in my wine rack so going for 150.00. Hopefully few of my sainsbobs vouchers arrive before shopping day.
Tree is up, looks so lovely, new one this year. May put my old one up in dining room for gs to decorate with homemade stuff and old baubles/ lights I have been given. My boss was throwing his tree away - so I nabbed it will drop off at charity shop later as knowing him its as new and could earn them a few pennies.
Day 1 - spent 5 pounds on the co-op meal deal liked the ice cream, fishfingers, chips, peas and fish handy to have in the freezer. Also bought my train ticket for following weekend 70 pounds eek - onto my credit card. So will not be spending this weekend.
Fuel - 3/4 full so hopefully just need another 20 pounds
Car Expenses - yes its the dreaded MOT month - will get it booked in early so I see where I am up to and just hope and pray.
Still in headless chicken mode, hopefully work calm down next week. x
