Morning all, been awake since 3.17, and got up early. Lots of family stuff going on, which will mean a lot of extra work / stress / expense for a while :( though hopefully will turn out for the best longer term. Can't say too much as it involves other people.

Anyway, what am I going to do today?
Just had my breakfast, used up some stewed fruit from the freezer :)
Read through and check car insurance documents (yawn) and file them away
    Check banks
Talk to OH about plans for the weekend - we are meeting a friend for lunch out on Sunday, which will be nice. Saturday might be a good day to start on some of the tasks that the family issue will be bringing about. Or not?
List some more bits on ebay
Help OH to move a piece of furniture that he has bought (as if there isn't enough going on :(). We don't need any more furniture certainly  OH will have to take some more items to the auction, which should cover the cost of this new (old) thing as well as make space, and it will at least be in his den / study, so will not impact on the rest of the house :T
Not much cooking needed today as I have lots of leftovers / bits I made yesterday in the fridge :)
Do *some* housework or tidying, probably the spare room, which one of my grown up children might be moving into temporarily after Christmas. Currently it is full of boxes of my business stock. These will need to be moved to the garage at some stage (not today) as the room will probably be needed at Christmas anyway!

Anyway, lots of coffee will definitely be needed today!
  • Great news Katy-Ann take care of yourself. No rush to get back into a routine or do anything at all except look after yourself and little one.

1LuckyLady I hate the carpet in our bedroom with a passion - think dark blue with little pink flowers  but it was in decent condition when we moved in and there is always something else that needs to be done. It is definitely going next year.

Tired this morning. Doing a half day at job no. 1 to take DS1 to hospital for his regular treatment. DS1 has been a massive help to me this week cooking meals, even though he hasnt been feeling great because he needs his medication. I should really buy him lunch.

Anyhow that means no work on job no. 2 unless I do it when we get back. Have a good Friday everyone x
  • Congratulations Katy! I hope everyone is spoiling you and allowing you to bond and recover with your little man. Having a baby takes so much out of us and having an emergency c section is really tough so understandable if you are feeling low. Like bob says talk to your hv about these feelings and hopefully they will pass quickly x

Just drinking coffee before getting ready this morning. Work is flat out, but my new system of working is definitely making it easier. The wonders of modern technology! I have a training day today 9.30-4.30 which only leaves me about an hour before/after to do some of the work I need to.

As working in home town will nip into sport shop to see if I can exchange the trainers my ds got me.

Not sure what I can take to work for lunch as things pretty bare around here!

Need to grab something g out of freezer for tea

Probably make some wraps this evening - excited to see how much easier they are with the fp!

Housework tonight as have my godson tomorrow for the day, he's very energetic so will, be no time for the usual pottering g around d on a Saturday!

Okay better get a move on! X

  • Amazing news Katy Ann! Congrats :)
Ziggy that's a great attitude your DS has. If only every school kid had the same outlook.

    I had a super busy day yesterday and forgot I had a networking event after work so I didn't manage to get through my list, today however will be different;

    - Check banks and YNAB
    - NSD
    - Visit new gym
    - Bring lunch and snacks to work
    - Charge phone at work
    - Shower at gym

That should keep me going :)

DawnW sorry to hear your having troubles
Katy Ann I felt low after having my DD by c-section my four pieces of advice are 1) Sleep when baby sleeps 2)Don't worry about housework 3)Take any help offered 4)When you can go out, go along to some baby groups, breastfeeding groups, baby yoga anything to get you out of the house. You will get through it, you'll get into a routine, it will get easier.

So a lot of my MS list today:
    - check bank balances
    - sort out car insurance through cashback. I've already done price comparisons and look at others that are not on comparisons.
    - Cash in best western points
    - parcel and send Christmas gifts to America. I've chosen well this year small light gifts that they will like so postage cost should be small.
    - pick up small gift from argos which had 25% off. I used cashback and gift card (purchased through work discount site)
    - Take back some things I have bought that I have changed my mind about/wrong size.
    - Send off bond money received from granddad
    - Whoop found receipts for spa vouchers so emailed them to get the gift cards reactivated
    - Chase up £35 cashback
    - Mend button on blouse
    - Get the pyramid Ferrero Roche reduced in Morrisons
    - Choose between two dresses for my work do and send one back for refund
    - Write shopping list and go to Aldi, Home Bargains and Morrisons
    - Buy some cheap cards from Card Factory
    - FPL, Comps

    Think that's enough

It's cool and cloudy in our little part of Yorkshire.

We have no plans that involve leaving the house, so I am expecting it to be a NSD.

We need to have a good tidy and clean downstairs as we have visitors arriving tomorrow morning, who are staying until Tuesday. I've meal planned some of their stay so far:
    Dinners-
Lentil lasagna (ds to make today OH to supervise)
Roast ys Duck with plenty of trimmings
I am going to rummage in the freezer today for a third dinner
    Lunch-
HM soup using broccoli stalks from the freezer
    HM bread
As well as cheese, fruit, veg
    Breakfast-
Cereal and toast, we no doubt will also be serving HM waffles/pancakes/crumpets but I'm not sure our guests will be interested
I'm planning on making flapjack or cake for the weekend.
I am going to write a shopping list for tomorrow.
We will be drying the laundry inside.
    Update GC with weeks spends
DW, WM and porridge will happen over night.
    RM survey, Ashleigh and FPL.
    PAD and checking bank accounts.
We will light the stove and keep the kettle on top for free hot water.
Blankets and jumpers available to keep us warm.

I have yet to read this week's adventures your all having.
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Afternoon all, I'm soooooooo cold today!! but as I'm home alone whilst hubby at work and kids at school there is no way I'm putting the heating on!! (currently stood here typing this with a scarf, an extra jumper, a fleece blanket wrapped around my waist and a little scented candle from the use up box for company! I may have to start doing some squats or lunges to get warm at this rate!)6.50pm update, I now have 2 jumpers/scarf/blanket/8 tealight candles & 2 kiddies to keep me warm now! :T

Yorkshire lass - I feel your pain!! Your carpet sounds like the one we had when we lived near Wakefield :) This one here is shades of bleuughhh I mean beige. We had budgeted to do it this time of year as dh has two weeks off at xmas and what he saves in fuel costs over that couple of weeks would be a big chunk towards the carpet but I think I'd rather build up the emergency fund instead..... hmmm still pondering...

    Today's small things
    * Kids had free breakfast at school :)
    * Gym class done :)
    * Cooked ys sausages to have a sausage sarnie for brunch with my dad, the left over sausages will be eaten over the weekend :)
    * Refilled lighter wand thing (for the candles) :)
    * Check banking/spreadsheets :)
    * Ask my dad if he can collect ordered library books as he goes past the library :)
    * General tidy round :)
    * Iron only what is needed :)
    * Put a load in the washing machine on a quick 30 degree wash :)
    * Dishwasher on quick wash and only use 1/2 a tablet :)
    * Shower/bath continue using opened lotions and potions to reclaim back some cupboard space and will let hair dry naturally
    * Look at my bullet journal and add more jobs to my diy page (oh and update the freezer list in there)
    * Had a letter through saying my dd for water supply is going up by £1.60 a month, need to update my spreadsheet with the new payment details :)
    * Youngest child is going to a friends after school so may see if my eldest wants to start putting up the xmas tree that we put up in their playroom (its the biggest room downstairs and its the room we use most for entertaining over the xmas period) :)well the tree is up in there now but kiddo soon got bored so will decorate it over the weekend

Right that's enough of a start, better get on as it'll not be long before I have to leave for the school run!

    Have a good day all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
