  • Hi all

Thanks LaE, have had a look at that site and didnt know about buying and upgrading so that's really helpful.

Good news about the train ticket clf and sorry about the panic attack. I can so relate to that feeling of just wanting to go home and curl up under the duvet. Just got to grit your teeth and carry on though. I am alongside you in your anxiousness if that helps even a tiny bit!

Busy day at job no. 1, need to get 3 hrs in on job no. 2 and havent started yet. Pilates tonight, roast dinner for tea, DS2 keeps asking me to be taken to get his hair cut. Going to be a busy night so I really should make a start.

Oh and picked up a couple of ys things that will do for tea another night.

YorkshireLass, I never know how you get everything done that you do!

Clf, great news on the refund, and quick too! :)

    Hope Foxgloves is doing ok?

Well I survived the xmas fayre :) I still do hate them! (Bad Mummy I know!) I had to pay £1 to get in and the the youngest spent £3.50 and the oldest £1.50 so could have been worse (and it was food they bought so not naff toys that they'd forget about by the morning)

Got someone coming to measure up for stairs/landing and a bedroom carpet tomorrow, will then look around at the weekend for something me & dh can agree on) We've hated these carpets since we bought the house in 2004! but decided to make do but when we've done the kids bedrooms during the refurb we've left the thresholds off so this is now making us get it sorted, It will make such a difference to the whole look, I can't wait!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Hi everyone  and welcome to GirlUpNorth.
Work is way too busy for me to think about anything at all apart from work and trying to sleep. It was dh's turn on the sofa last night. Bob - ds has been bad again over the past couple of weeks - he's been learning about the ancient Egyptians at school and now seems paranoid that there is a mummy under his bed. He wakes up and hears noises (usually the cats) but then can't go back to sleep. I'm exhausted... He's a particularly anxious child anyway but this is starting to take its toll a bit.
I've bagged another 2 nsd's - taking me to 18 for the month which is the positive of being so busy, and today is also payday! YES!
I still need to read Martin's email and catch up on here, then operation Christmas crafting really needs to continue... Hope that everyone is doing ok.

Cat bless him what a thing to be scared of poor lad. I wonder if he would believe in it if you held an exorcism type thing to banish the bad mummy spirits? You could find a couple of nice poems and use those etc. Might be a rubbish idea but sometimes taking kids seriously in their fears works.

Luckyladythank you, I am trying my best, don't seem to feel I'm getting any closer but of course that's not true. I hope your new carpets will be really nice, and glad DH got his expenses paid early!

Carrie so sorry to read about your panic attack. Hugs to you.

    Small things today

    1. Paid off £24 from cc
    2. Found 6p roadkill. My total for the year is now £55. I'm pleased with that!
    3. Gave both the kids a dose of the free paracetamol the pharmacy gave us, both have temperatures, colds and coughs
    4. Used up leftovers for our main meals. I had some YS turkey steaks so gave those to DS and DH with various bits. I'm having a portion of beef pie I froze a few weeks ago, with veg.
    5. DH got paid today so I did the money shuffle.
    6. Bought a pack of chippolatas to freeze until Christmas. I am shocked at the cost of pigs in blankets and will make my own. I bought 12 chippolatas for £1.50 today. And will buy another pack at some point. And bacon. They wanted £3 for a pack of pre made pigs. This is definitely a rip off when you look at all the extra you get buying bacon individually.
    7. Used a £5 off coupon for pampers which was part of an £18 pack of coupons they sent after I complained. So today I paid £2 in real money for 67 nappies
    8. OH WFH so we saved on travel.
    9. I used DH oyster today so I saved on travel too.
    10. Put up a smattering of Christmas decs today, we won't be buying anything new. I love how most of our decs have real meaning for us.

    Evening all :)
Hope you are ok CLF :(
    Hope Foxgloves is ok :(
Really cold here again today, it has been frosty and everything iced up all day
Not managed much today as I have had GD all day, and she is poorly AGAIN :( I have only just got over the last cold I caught from her...
    Anyway:
    NSD, not been anywhere
Listed precisely 1 item on ebay :rotfl:
    A couple of sales :)
    HM meals from stores
Made some scones with GD for a treat

Pathetic list I am afraid! Must head up to the loft to find a sold (but not yet paid for ) ebay item, plus a similar item to another which has sold, which I can now list :)

    Hi all
CCL we went through I spell of my DD not sleeping. Over a period of a few weeks we had to move closer and closer to the bedroom door until we could sneak out and then eventually she settled. Feel your pain.

Hope Katy Ann and Foxglove are okay?

Having a very busy week at work. Flew to Dublin for the day yesterday - up at 6am and not back until 8pm at night. I've had 2 NSD's.
    - taken packed lunch, ate on expenses and today a colleague had made and brought in homemade pasties
    - sold and posted eBay parcel
    - FPL
    - comps on Facebook, Quidco and Totalcashback santa comps
    - building a long list of jobs for Friday when I'm not in work
    Bye for now, LP x

  • Morning all

CCL most kids who are anxious (like adults) find it really hard to voice their fears. It's really important that you encourage him to talk about his worries, even if he is worried about things that are silly or even things that may make you sad or upset. I would give him 15 minutes worry time with you or Dad on a night but not too close to bed time. You could even write down every single thing that he is worried about and then you take it away with you so he has given his worries to you. The egyptian mummy thing could even be about a deeper fear - or it might not. DS1 had a thing about burglars once!

Both jobs today, and both jobs will be busy. Off to get a quick shower and get ready for the paid stuff. Wont have time to spend!
  • Morning chums,

    Short list for me as I need to get a move on;

    - Check banks and YNAB
    - Sign up to new gym and Netflix (so all my DD's come out on the 1st of the month)
    - Bring lunch to work, with snacks
    - Charge phone at work
    - Visit Carphone Warehouse (AGAIN!)
    - Hopefully get some exercise

    That'll keep me going.

    Have a nice day everyone.
