On the plus side, the little Shih Tzu we met yesterday is an absolute darling; we've confirmed we're happy to have him to stay, just need for the owner to confirm she's happy for him to come to us (that's how the system works with this new company). He sleeps on the bed, and there are not a vast amount of Carers will allow that, so we should be ok. The little guy loved Mr LW, too, was all over him while I was asking his owner about his daily routine. :rotfl:
Iona I'm pleased your tutor has allowed you an extension - I thought they would, because it's not like you just haven't done the work cos you cba, is it? Hopefully now he's able to sit in a chair, your DH will continue to improve.
I washed a load of Mr LW's clothes this morning; and handed him the big pile of hankies that were part of yesterday's hot-wash, so that he could iron them.Well, why have a dog and bark yourself??
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all, hope everyone is OK. I've done no flying so far this week!! Planning to have an hour now to try and get all the level 1s done if nothing else.
Boiler picked yesterday to start playing up - we actually had a plumber come and look at it last week and we are waiting on him to get parts but it's got worse since yesterday - such good timing! It still works but basically the pressure drops so we have to go out to the garage twice a day to increase the pressure so that it starts to work again. Oh well, it could definitely be worse!0 -
Just in from paid stuff so Ned to get a move on and do someing
Pleased your Dh is getting lots of care and treatment Iona, glad you've been given an extension On your work.
Hugs and good vibes to all who need them
Better go and do something productive.SPC~12 ot 124

Hi all
BM have you read the Kon-Marie book? It sounds a bit over the top but following her attitude towards de-cluttering changed my life.
Glad things are improving Iona.
Oh and atb DH took the doors off our built in bedroom cupboard in about July to paint them. They are still in the shed unpainted and although the cupboard is reasonably organised it doesnt exactly look pretty without its doors. Sigh.
Anyhow, flying. 30 minutes this morning emptying dishwasher, shuffling washing and scrubbing bathroom. An hour tonight gathering washing and dirty pots, hoovering bedrooms, dusting boys rooms, cleaning 2 windows and changing DS2s bed.
My wonderful son cooked a roast dinner so I could get on with some more paid stuff. Gym class in a bit so more work to do first. Will put bedding over the airer before bed.0 -
Iona glad to hear DH is improving; he's in the right place. Good that he was sat outside his bed too. Glad that you've got an extension.
ATB I feel exhausted just hearing about all you've done today!
LW glad you've got a lovely lodger coming your way - how sweet that he will sleep on the bed with you. Whiz Whippet would love to come up to bed with me but he'd get a decidedly frosty reception from DH!! When I go and see Mum & Dad in Truro with the kids and Whiz then he sleeps with me and Z and LOVES it
Yorkshirelass how lovely of DS to cook you a roast - my DS is a bit young for that but nice to have as something to look forward to
Up early as had to take S to the eye hospital. Bus cost £9.80 for child and adult return to the centre - freezing cold on the bus and it got us in 30 minutes later than planned; good job I didn't get the next bus as we'd have definitely been late. Been working today but also changed our bedding and vaccumed the mattress.
Hope everyone is staying warm in this freezing weather. See you tomorrow.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Hi everyone!
I did our bedroom at the weekend so I tidied up a food cupboard in the kitchen instead....that somehow took me most of the day!
Hugs to all x2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Thanks everyone for hugs and good wishes. DH is improving slowly. He is still very weak and on all the monitors, oxygen and IV lines, but at the moment things seem to be going OK. Monday night was bad, but he had a better night last night and was sitting out of bed this morning when I rang earlier - it's easier for him to breathe when he's in a chair. There is still some concern about the effect of the pneumonia on his heart, but we will learn more in time.
Just popping in to say I'm so glad he is improving, it is such a worry. And good news about your college work.
Must get an early night tonight; it is a shattering week and we didn't have the energy to go dancing this eve which I'm really upset about, but was so exhausted. Never mind; 2 more assessments, 2 students and lots to write up then I'm away staying with my brother and SIL at the weekend, including the annual lunch with them, my mum, eldest stepbrother and his wife on Sat.
And I'm glad I wasn't the only one who left washing on the line overnight to find it seriously rigid this morning!Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Iona Whiz Whippet would love to come up to bed with me but he'd get a decidedly frosty reception from DH!!
Whenever we stay with our whippet-owning friends, I always leave the bedroom door open so he can sneak in and come for a cuddle....what a naughty house guest I am, teaching their dog bad habits.........not that he needs much teaching.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Came home this eve to a message left by the water board who have decided to give us a new shower; ordered so will be a few days.....If they'd done what their own plumber recommended 12 days ago, we'd have had it installed already. Oh well at least a decision.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0

Wednesday ~ Master Bedrooms and Landings
Level One...
Remove floordrobe, make sure all clothes are put away neatly
Level Two...
Strip bed linen and wash, replace with clean linen
Vacuum floors in these areas
Level Three...
Vacuum mattress
Clean tops of drawers
Level 1 complete. Actually stripped the beds and put on fresh bedding at the weekend so didn't need to do that. Did vacuum the floors though which freaked out the toddler (she's scared of Henry so I rarely hoover!). Also cleared away accumulated crap from the tops of the chest of drawers in our room, and the chest of drawers on the landing (there was a pile of accumulated detritus sitting on top of it that had been there for weeks....had originally been in the kitchen, made it's way upstairs for sorting and stayed there).
Was out all afternoon (I'm a volunteer perinatal befriender) and managed a whole 40minutes to myself in a local cafe bar having a hot chocolate and a crumpet after I finished and before I picked up DD2 from MILs (DD1 picked up from school my mother today). I never get 40minutes to myself like that. It was bliss
I'm actually finding this thread/idea really helpful. Normally I'm running around thinking I have to do All The Things every day, resulting in nothing ever being finished and a constant state of disorder. It's nice to actually be able to focus on a task and think the rest can wait until tomorrowHouse hasn't been this tidy in ages
