hi.... im new to this thread, so please be gentle with me....
for years i have been doing weight watchers and have successfully lost weight, but within a year i put it all back on. so i thought i would try something different, and someone suggested slimming world.as i only work part time hours and money is tight, i purchased a set from ebay and i have read the books and i still cant get my head round it....
is it coz i have been brainwashed by weight watchers.....
all i need is a little guidance or a helping hand to start.....
thanks

Welcome LGN: this is a great thread. Stick with us for friendly support. I started SW in May and love it, never going hungry it certainly works for me.
Basically you have green days and original days, you chose each day which of these you will stick to for the day. Nearly all veg are free food on both days, ditto fruit (don't get confused with WW here - have as much as you need, really, you will lose weight) On green days all pasta and rice is free on green days all meat is free. You really can have as much of either as you need depepnding on the 'colour 'of your day. Then each day you MUST choose 2 healthy extra B's and at least one of the healthy extra A's: this is to ensure nutritional balance. You may not lose weight if you don't have these. You really can have a lot of food: go for it for a week and see and check in here to ask questions as as when. Oh yes - syns. A the back of the book they are laid out. YOu can have between 5-15 a day. I find I can't have more than 5/6 to lose weight, as I am not very active.
At the back of the book, ignore the 'mix to match' days for a bit - it's too confusing to start with. Stick to an all green or all original day for now.
Hope this helps

You are one of the people on this thread who are inspiring me to stick to eating healthily. I'm so sorry you're upset. I can't imagine that anyone on this thread would do that intentionally. Sometimes written messages don't come over the way we intend them to.
I think Tesco has probably got it in for all of us .... the BOGOFs are almost always things I shouldn't eat but would like to!
I agree! Text is very one dimensional and it's easy to misconstrue what people say.
Re Tesco's BOGOFs - they're doing a special offer on traditional British pies at the moment - shepherd's pie, cumberland pie or corned beef hash, for £1! The corned beef hash is only 250 calories per portion, so I had one for lunch today - yumyum!

Heya guys, I'm new to this thread, and I just want to say you're all amazing for losing so much weight!
I've put on quite a bit recently, so am going on the weighwatchers diet as this has worked for me before. However, I don't have time to go to the meetings, and I can't afford to pay on the internet. I was just wondering if anyone has the points values for a couple of things; I've got the points for most things I need and I can figure a few out, but I was just wondering what the points value was for a standard packet of Walkers crisps, and a cheese panini?
Thanks for your help

Hope my Tesco have corned beef hash for £1 tomorrow.

the fat content over 9% and the salt nearly 2%,
Were you reading the right section of the packaging? Tesco's have percentages on the front, which show how much of the recommended daily allowance the food contains, rather than how much of the food is made up of fat.
They confused me when they first started using them, so you might have misunderstood.

I'm really interested to hear that you succeeded in losing weight - I know an awful lot of vegetarians (and slim or only very slightly overwight people) and so I never came accross a personal recommendation.
I've had to go from a very active lifestyle to an almost completely sedentary one over the last 3 years, and as a result have about 4.5 stones to lose somehow. The last straw was when I had my third (locked) bike stolen in a year - I can't afford to replace it and so hardly even go out of the house now.
I would be really interested in any comments you have on the Atkins diet and how you get on adapting meals etc to the regime, eg do you have a family and/or OH? If so do you all eat the Atkins way or do you do separate meals for yourself?
i was losing about 7+ pounds per week
i do have a family (2 kids and missus) they don't eat what i do, you can have a few veggies for example i will have a full roasty on a sunday :money:
its just a case of adapting.
always have decaf tea and coffee with sweetener as sugar is a no-no
i make a nice belly pork stir fry with chili, garlic and balsamic vinegar, they will have it with rice and i will just have an extra spoonful.
they say you can have a cup full of veg everyday if you really want it, but like i said i will save mine up and have a big Sunday dinner.
also depends how quick you wanna lose the weight?
just cutting your carbs should see a steady loss.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
