    2 tries, 1 conversion, 1 penalty.

We had the points anyway, as the opposition, only had 12 players and they were the home team, so we gave them our two subs and played 14 a side. However that was only after 15mins and our missing centre appeared! :)

My shoulders and neck hurt now though

......crikey me, I take it back.:o 10 of the 15 coming in touchdowns... that's almost Barbarians rugby :)
  • Finally went back to the gym tonight :T Got to say i am shattered but glad i did it. Think its been 6 months since the last time.
Playing badminton tomorrow night so the exercise regime is kicking in.

Bit stressed at the moment as i start a new job a week tomorrow
  • Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll just keep on walking the dog and give the gym a miss for the next 4 weeks or so. The recovery from the op should only be about 2 - 3 weeks.

Suggs - I had gammon for dinner today too. And I have enough left over for my lunch tomorrow.

Good luck starting the new job tomorrow natanddan. I'm sure you'll be grand.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
  • A Good (but very wet and windy) Morning Peeps

It seems a few of you had lovely lunches yesterday, that Cook Yourself Thin book is certainly gaining a few fans (I shall borrow it from the library rather than buy it as I only ever seem to use just a couple of recipes from any of these sort of books) . As DD is now grown up and very rarely here for Sunday lunch, it's a meal that's fallen by the wayside in my household, so for MrP and myself we tend to graze, although I must admit that I've got to the age where I don't want to be ruled by a timetable at weekends:o so now they are the exception rather than the norm. Yesterday my food intake was 3 pears, 4 ice creams and a meatfree burger with onions in a wholemeal roll and a small blob of tomato ketchup. There doesn't seem to be any point cooking a big lunch for a couple of people, and the main benefit is that I'm not tempted to ruin my success by eating a meal that I don't really want...

...Well done natanddan1 on getting back to the gym :j you'll soon get back into the swing of things and reap it's benefits. The badminton tonight will be a great way of stressbusting :j ...

...Victory On the few times that we've been out this year, I found that all pub chains have something on their menu that can be slimming friendly but usually at the expense of paying for something and then not eating it  We've found a 'gastropub' type of place that isn't part of a national chain which does all manner of fantastic food that you wouldn't expect in a pub, and they will serve something plain if requested (I had a plain grilled swordfish steak and salad once instead of it being smothered in a calorie laden sauce). I think it's a case of asking for things and hope that they eventually take notice as a few years ago at one of the national chain of pubs (could be a harvester - can't remember at the moment) use to do a lovely roasted vegetable and tomato pasta, but on a new menu they'd done away with it, so everytime we go in we ask for it just to make a point :rotfl: but I must admit, I'm still waiting to see it return to the menu...

  • I've just found this which may be of help to anyone hasn't lost anything/much this week:-

    Mirrors Don't Lie
Measuring your weight on a scale is the worst way to track your progress. Daily fluctuations in the amount of water in your body, caused by the amount of salt you eat and other factors, cause your weight to vary. These fluctuations have nothing to do with permanent weight loss, and will only serve to frustrate you.
If you choose to use a scale to monitor your progress, it is generally advised that you not weigh yourself more than once a week. You should also weigh yourself first thing in the morning, when the water content of your body will be more consistent.
They say that mirrors don't lie, and a mirror is actually a great way to see changes in your body. The problem is that many of us are overly critical of ourselves and never seem to like what we see in the mirror. We always find something we don't like and dwell on it, so it helps to have something less subjective to go by.
Clothes don't lie either, and seeing how your clothes fit is a great way to observe the changes in your body. Or if you'd like to be a little more accurate and keep records of your progress, you can take measurements as described in our newsletter Measuring Success.
However, none of these methods makes it very clear whether or not you are losing muscle along with the fat. So here are some methods of calculating body fat percentage with which you can measure both fat and muscle loss, or gain.....

I this got from caloriesperhour.com if you scroll down the page they have some good topics that I think are very helpful and explain things in a no nonsense way. There is a good section on choosing the right plan which may be of help to someone new to weightloss as it makes it clear that - "A good diet plan will be healthy from the start, and will be based on principles that you can follow for a lifetime. In fact, if you have found the right diet plan, it will be one that you will want to follow for a lifetime."

I found this site a while back and just used it for BMI etc. I wish now that I'd read more of it then :o never mind though, better late than never and it's always good to have things repeated in a different way; how soon we forget!!!

    Have a good day everyone.

    xxxx

ps MrP has had to go to work early today so I've had nothing better to do for a couple of hours :D

...innit just? I'm a bit grumpy this morning so was unashamedly gleeful to watch the bow waves from the cars in front of me knock quietly on the doors of the houses of the [STRIKE]scrat[/STRIKE] less-than-affluent area I drive through on the way to work.

  • Morning all,

Feeling quite sorry for myself as I've got the beginnings of freshers flu.

Got a nice cup of lemsip tho...so hopefully that will make the throat razor blades go away.

Had some nice oat so simple porridge this morning...it came with nut and seed sprinkles with 'sprinkling directions' on the back...haven't really stopped laughing at that one...how daft do the marketing people think we are!!
