I have a growing feeling that Britain will NOT leave the EU

There is no such thing as a common position from the EU electorate, precisely because of the national political structures which sit between the EU and the citizens.
Citizens in Poland probably don't give a stuff about the potential loss of fishing rights faced by Spanish fisherman. In turn, those same fishermen aren't too bothered about German manufacturers selling premium automobiles to the UK.
All I know is that the views of these individual voters still have value. I suspect the top tier of Eurocrats have actually forgotten this. When was there an EU wide referendum on the overall direction of the EU?
You may be right that the top tier of the EU do not consider individual voters. That was supposed to be the job of the elected politicians. Our MEP's appear to have done a pretty poor job as the majority of them were there to destroy the EU and or get Britain to leave.
I also hope that after the Brexit referendum and the USA election politicians minds have been refocused on the wishes of their electorate and are also listening to the dispossessed and left behind more. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Oh come on.
The UK has been less than an enthusiastic participant in the EU for years. By our (non) actions we've helped create the very thing you now despise.
I don't despise the EU : I think it is a less than optimal organisation of states to maximise the benefits for the people : great for the EU elite but bad for the people.
In any event, the narrative that all would be well if only the (presumably superior) UK had fully engaged is ridiculous. Is that narrative shared by the other 27 countries : were they all just waiting around for the UK to lead them to utopia?
Which specific actions of the UK have prevented the EU from flowering ? Not joining the euro perhaps? or not integrating our jury led legal system into their judge led system : what exactly?
Do you have the evidence to show that the MAJORITY of UK MEPs want to brexit or destroy the EU.0 -
If it were true then the phrase should be WERE USING THE UK AS A CASH COW.
As in your opinion Britain is leaving.
It might be a double bluff but no one from the EU side has mentioned the money.
It seems to me the EU loosing Britains contribution will mean a leaner and fitter EU. Not a bad thing.0 -
I voted to remain, but the more I watch the reactions of the various EU officials the more I realise that, if another referendum were to arrive, I would vote out, and I cannot be the only person thinking this way. There is no way the EU can continue on in it's current form, it is too protectionist and the people at the top are too arrogant to even imagine that what they say and do affects little people.
So, if we were to not leave, then there would be outrage, and I imagine that would be replicated in other countries in the EU.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Nigel Farage. Claim with a straight face that he did a good job as MEP. I dare you.

What would you call 'doing a good job as an MEP'?
solving the problems of youth unemployment in the EU?
or the general economic problems of souther europe
or breaking up the Euro so that growth can restart?
give me your definitions and give me some names of people who did a 'good' job.0 -

the money we pay to the EU has NOTHING to do with the 'costs' of running a single market : they are all about distributing money to the new entrants.0 -

And quite right too.
If you want to have the benefits of club membership, you follow the rules and pay the fees.
If you don't want to pay the fees and follow the rules, you can leave, but then you should expect none of the benefits.Norway is not a member of the EU (but is in the European Economic Area) and pays just as much to the EU as we do.
On a per capita basis that's about right.
They also have to man a fax machine (well a PC nowadays) to incorporate all the changing EU laws into their own system without ever having a say in how they were drawn up or a veto over anything important.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
