so what people are telling me people are someone at the company can be late without punishment can also get away with having no probation and basically not get 3 months like i did yeah which has basically happended ? that to me is favouritism? why is it one rule for someone esle not to add to the fact the manger said my uniform didnt fit and maybe i should not go for the slim fit option next time? i dont think people are seeing the way i have been treated regardless if its probation or not no one should be treated like that at a work place

    It doesn't matter.

Yes they can choose to employ someone to do nothing and get paid thusands per day and you to work hard for minimum wage.

    It's up to them.

Welcome to real life, OP, you are not at school any longer. There actually are winners and losers out here, sorry.
  • did you work alone or as part of a team?

Favouritism is not unlawful unless it is purely on one of the protected grounds I mentioned earlier. There is no law that say you have to treat all employees the same!

Nothing you have posted here suggests any kind of case.

Life is unfair sometimes but unless anything unlawful has happened there is nothing you can do about it. Take a deep breath and move on.

    Sorry!

    Completely irrelevant!

These aren't the answers you're looking for....

But they are the correct ones.

You have got everywhere you are going to get with the question you asked. I'm afraid that if this is what you think working life is abou, you are going to get a lot more disappointed. You haven't been bullied. You have been sacked because they didn't think you were good at your job. End of story. The lesson to learn is to be better at your job. What other people do had nothing to do with that.

Unfortunately, the answers you have been given are correct.

Despite what most people think, the "probation" period is meaningless as a company can just say "it isn't working out" and let you go any time up to 2 years.

Also, a company can pay you £10/hour and somebody else £100/hour when you are both doing the same job.

It can also happen where you are disciplined for being late whereas your colleague can be late without any problems.

Unless of course you can prove that any of the above is as a result of discrimination - but to do this you would need to go to a tribunal, pay a fee and take a risk, and in reality most people will not (or are financially unable) to do this.

Not really. The left wing position is that labour should combine and use their bargaining power to drive wages and standards up tor reasonable levels.

The idea that companies are going to be "fair" to people out of the goodness of their hearts is one that the right wing like to encourage.

Ultimately I imagine the "fairness" thing comes about because today's generations are infantilised by spending far too long in school for no good purpose. But I digress.

Quite. Class war has nothing to do with "fairness". And in an ideal world ( or my idea of that) people will still get sacked! Doing the job as the employer wants it done is required in any world. Maybe this employer can overlook a bit of lateness if the person who is late is great at the job. There's always give and take. But the OP didn't get to decide these things until they become the employer.
