need to know where i stand and any advise would help?

I have recently had my probation ended by the company i was working for there is just a few things i need to find out are right and if there can be anything can be done? my probation was due to end next week which would of been the end of the 3 months at the company last week i had my probation review to see if i can improve or what i was doing wrong the manger said i would have another one in 2 weeks which would of been the end date for the probation but i was called into the office this week to say my contract was being terminated ? first thing how it this possible to do when my manger has been out all week last week up untill the day i was called in so any improve or any changes would not of been seen by the manger so how can they say nothing has improved? also i am due to be paid this friday(paid monthly) but i was told i would only get a weeks notice pay again this cant be right as i have worked a whole month? i feel like ever since i started the job none of strengths were picked up or noticed by the manger i feel iv been bullied out the job by the manger and i dont think the right process has been done to end my probation? i also found out another person who i work with was not even on probation and started the same day as me? i have emailed the area manger but so far no response any advice would be helpful thank you.

With less than two years service you can be dismissed for almost any reason (or no reason at all) simply by giving you one week's notice (or more if your contract so requires).

So for most purposes in employment law "probation" is largely meaningless. Passing it may give you certain contractual benefits but that is all.

You must of course be paid for all the time you have worked, plus any accrued but untaken holiday (roughly one day for every two weeks worked). If they don't let you work the week's notice then they must pay you for that too.
  • something can surely been done if you think you have been treated unfairly at the company aswell as other things
  • No, of course not. Who do you suppose enforces "fairness" at companies? They don't have to be "fair" at all. Nobody is going to make them employ you if they don't want to.

They can take someone else on, make him a manager with no experience and pay him three times as much as you because they met him down the pub and liked him. I don't know where this idea that employment is supposed to be "fair" comes from to be honest.

I would imagine that when they say you will only get a week's notice pay, that will be a week's notice on top of pay for what you have worked.

    No.

Unless there has been unlawful discrimination (gender, race, sexual orientation etc) then there is noting that can be done with less than two years service. As I said above they must pay you for work done, holiday and notice but that is all.

Not from us. We're tougher than the right! Or, at least, so certain people on here keep telling me I am! Apparently I'm nasty for telling people the truth!

Not really. The left wing position is that labour should combine and use their bargaining power to drive wages and standards up tor reasonable levels.

The idea that companies are going to be "fair" to people out of the goodness of their hearts is one that the right wing like to encourage.

Ultimately I imagine the "fairness" thing comes about because today's generations are infantilised by spending far too long in school for no good purpose. But I digress.
  • so what people are telling me people are someone at the company can be late without punishment can also get away with having no probation and basically not get 3 months like i did yeah which has basically happended ? that to me is favouritism? why is it one rule for someone esle not to add to the fact the manger said my uniform didnt fit and maybe i should not go for the slim fit option next time? i dont think people are seeing the way i have been treated regardless if its probation or not no one should be treated like that at a work place

To be fair I meant the left wing liberal agenda, rather than the left political sphere.
