Paris Metro ticket - possible proof of an affair

Update page 14..........

I could do with a bit of help here.

Going back a couple of years, I had reason to believe that my partner was having an affair. He denied it, and I've never found definitive proof, although the old gut feeling was there. The woman I suspected he was having an affair with, put a lot of pictures on a social network site, including ones of Paris - she was very careful not to show any pictures of who she was with, but the dates coincided with the time that my partner was supposedly away on business. He managed to convince me that I was being stupid, and he'd never been to Paris - we moved on, but I've been wary since.

Fast forward to now and I've dug out an old bag to use at the weekend. In the end pocket, I've found a crumpled ticket screwed up in the corner. The ticket is a Paris Metro one. To me, this is pretty damning, but there's no date on it, only a serial number. Does anyone know if there's any way of finding out any information from the serial number? I know that his mum went to Paris about 5 years ago, and could well have used this bag.

Any help would be gratefully received. :(

  • How can any of us know whether it's your husband's ticket or his mother's?

If you don't trust him why are you with him?

I was going to reply along similar lines by saying my advice is leave him as you don't trust him.

Glad its just not me that thought that!

Oh, if only life was that simple. It sounds as though you've never been in this situation - lucky you. My ex had a two year affair that I knew nothing about. And yes, I am a clued up woman, who never thought she would be cheated on, and would have bet my life that my partner was a decent, loving man who thought the world of me - how wrong was I? The knock-on impact is that I have to consider if I'm being unreasonable, and seeing things that are not actually there, with my new partner. I love him very much, and I don't want to continually raise issues, if they're not valid.

I was asking if anyone knew how to find out information from the serial number - I'm sorry, if that did not come across clearly. Serial numbers are often made up of information, such as dates and point of issue information, which is scrambled into a unique code. I've no idea if that is the case here, hence the question. I wasn't actually asking if anyone knew if it was my partner's ticket, or his mum's - it was if the serial number could be broken down to reveal when the ticket was bought.

Isn't it time you sat down with him and had a frank discussion if you really and truly think he has cheated on you?

Sorry this is a tough time for you.

Who's bag was it? I am presuming it is not a lady's bag but an overnight thinggy that you will use yourself.

I know it's not that simple to just say hey it's over. But honestly if you do not trust him now, you never will.

Get your ducks in a row, have a running away fund put by just in case, and then figure it out.

I think the answer is the one you know really. Unless this is the plot for a book or something.

Yes, I've had a frank discussion with him at the time, and he was very convincing. The trouble is so was my ex. Very few will actually stand up and say what they've done, especially if they don't want the relationship to end - and if I find definite proof, love him or not, it will end.

Think you need to end it now. you don't trust him no matter what he says.

I was engaged to be married and he cheated on me with someone who all his mates had had. Yes I was very hurt. But I gave it time. And then got on with my life.

You need to leave and start to repair your life and maybe seek counseling for the trust issues you have. As you will never had a trusting relationship again.
