  • So it's been quite a busy day I guess. We went to get our bikes and mine was being naff and tyres were deflated etc. I no idea where the pump is so the boy went on his bike and I just walked briskly behind. We were probably out the house for around an hour and a half and we even sat by the beach for a little while. I honestly felt so peaceful just sat there watching the waves and tide come in.

We then went back home and had some lunch then went round to my friends for a catch up. We've not long been back and have done some quick cleaning and the boy wants to join in exercise routine with me. I'll do that before everyone comes home. As expected it's been a NSD so far and hopefully should continue to be. I'm going to have leftover spaghetti bolognese for tea and hopefully have an early night tonight. I'm pretty tired. My sleep pattern started going skew-wiff over the weekend and I'm finding it hard to get it back to what was normal.

The exercise routine I've been doing at home states to use dumbells however we don't have any as we got rid a few years ago. I'll see if my mum would like to pursue this with me and if so there are some on offer from argos. For now I'll just use tins of beans for now lol :rotfl:

We've got some homework to do but I don't want to overload too much at once with it. I'm hoping boy has an early night so I can get head down too.

Hope everyone has a good day.:)

  • Nothing wrong with using a tin of beans!

It reminds me of a story when I was a wee boy and I went to the ice cream van and the man behind the counter was a big muscular lad and I remember innocently asking him "how can I get big arms like you?" and his reply - no joke - "just use a tins of beans or peas and curl them". So there you go. You're on to something.

Might be worth checking eBay or Gumtree for 2nd hand dumbbells as I would expect they'd be much cheaper.
  • Just checking in.. Yesterday and today have been a NSD bringing my total to 7/12 NSD.

This morning me and the boy just spent time together chilling out and then did some of his homework. This afternoon he went to watch a show with a friend whilst I went to my CBT group. I'm finding it really hard to concentrate in there.

I've decided to have a catch up with a friend and go to a legs, bums and tums class at the gym later. I'll see how this one goes as I wasn't too keen on the last one due to a different set up.

The bank account switch has finally gone through I think. I'll check everything tomorrow and see if all is well.

Nothing much else to report. I'm meeting up with a different friend tomorrow. I may suggest the local big park and take the kids scooters or something. I want to get out in the outdoors and not stay in. The weather is dry, fresh and crisp. It's nice.

Aside from that nothing much else report. Half term seems to be rather a cheap one this time around. The no smoking is going well. The healthy balanced diet.. Few bumps in that road ;)

Hope everyone has had a good Wednesday.

  • Good morning Chandelier,

I once met a man who was a life coach at a networking event. I was in his company for 5 minutes and I left filled with confidence, completely sold on his mantra and way of teaching which is similair to what you've just suggested you might do.

He would take his clients out a walk and talk. Simple as that. They'd meed up a nice location such as a loch, a park or mountain trek and they'd walk in amongst nature for hours and they'd talk. To me, that sounds so idyllic and it's an environment in which it'd be easy to open up in.

Sorry for the long story, but I hope your walk with your friend in the park offers something a similair and you come back feeling refreshed and with less weight on your shoulders.
  • Evening!

Day out with friend turned not so local haha! We decided to go on a bit of a road trip and ended up in Skipton for some afternoon tea, a visit to the castle and woodland walk for kids. So a bit of a spendy day however it's been so good to catch up and very therapeutic. I haven't seen this friend since before Christmas so it's been a good catch up and we can see where abouts each of us are in life! The kids were full of excitement and had a sugar rush from their afternoon tea which had lots of yummy sweets for them and both are very worn out now. A fun day was had by all!

I think I'll pop round to friends tomorrow morning again and then visit another friend in the afternoon which will keep us busy. Tomorrow shall definitely be a NSD though ;).

I'm having another night off from the gym I think. I went there last night and did the leg, bums and tums which was pretty hard and has left me aching now. If I do end up going I'll just do some cardio and a couple of weights. I've walked quite a bit today though also so I think I deserve a break!

I've not much else to report MSE wise. Today was rather spendy but was really worth it, we all enjoyed it!

Glad you had a nice time with your friends - sometimes a spend is required for days like this and you shouldn't feel guilty for that! Sounds like the exercise is helping you, too.

  • Morning.. its a pretty dull day for a Sunday here.

I have spent the morning with the boy doing some homework with one another before he goes back on Tuesday. He is off to his dads today so I am hoping to catch up on some sleep later on.

I have had a couple of nights of really bad sleep and its has a knock on effect on my mood/behaviour the following days. I am really exhausted this morning.

The past couple of days have been pretty much low spend days, its just been a few bits here and there- all less then £10 each day.

The no smoking is going really well. I have been properly smoke free just over a week now minus the blip the other week due to stress. My banking is looking pretty healthy considering. I am struggling at some points- I say struggling, I mean more like I feel at a loss of what to do with the time I used to spend smoking i.e. during an advert on tv programme etc. I am not so much getting the cravings.

I have a pretty busy week ahead of me I guess. Tomorrow is the day I have yet another meeting regarding return to work. I need to make a plan of action for that I guess.

Aside from that not much else to report!

Hi Chandelier, well done on quitting smoking!

With regards to the not-knowing what to do, have you considered taking up something like crochet? I started last year (to cope with anxiety and what I think is possible ADD) and it has been a life saver. I learned through Youtube and pick up cheap yarn (super cheap, honestly) and I find it's so good at helping me when I am twiddling thumbs and in my case, making myself even more anxious.

Just a thought, because its been so helpful to me!
