I'm obviously sleep deprived from the little man being ill last night as I've only just remembered that dh isn't going to be here to eat tonight. This is after making the spag bol for him especially! Ah well, at least its a meal for us all tomorrow night. Tonight as its just me and the kids we're going to have the soup I've made (butternut squash, carrot & spinach - tastes nicer then it sounds!) and I've got some ys garlic bread in the freezer so will have it with that :) Dh is on his way back from a meeting and not expected back here til at least 10pm so he'll be getting food on expenses on his way back :)

Right now time to find the garlic bread, I know its in the freezer......somewhere! :)

    * Trying out a Weetabix choc tray bake recipe, (got 10 Nutribix-like Weetabix but not nice! so putting 3 in here to give it a try :))

Your soup sounds fab! I made a real scrape the barrel jobber today to get NSD 14 and mine had parsnips, broccoli stalks, spagetti, Thai green curry remains, potato remains, garlic, & curry powder :)

"whatever is in the fridge soup" is always good for the bank balance Bob! NSD 14 that's awesome! I don't do well with the nsd's- must try harder! Like today needed bread & apples for tomorrows packed lunches - but I rang my sis and asked if she could call at the shop on her way past for me as little one was poorly. At least that way it cost me £2 rather then me popping into the shops and seeing ys's!

  • DS works in quite a posh restaurant and they regularly make and sell what they call "fridge soup". I think it goes down as something else on the menu though!

I should have had a NSD but I bought some clementines (95p). This was because 1. I am sick of the sight of bananas and apples and 2. It was the cheapest alternative fruit in the shop.

One DD cancelled, one insurance re-negotiated, one charity donation stopped. I have also stopped paying £10 a month into DSs savings account now that he is working and actually has more spare cash than me. £28 a month saved which means I can pay this towards the interest free finance on DS2s new bedroom furniture.

I am officially still working but waiting for something to download so I thought I would say hello. Back to it for another half hour then gym class.

    Hello Frugal Friends,
Just had a catch up with what you're all up to. Thanks so much for all the positive wishes, which I've found very touching. I am keeping really busy as it takes the edge off the worry. I usually work in the garden when I'm stressed but I would just find the physical activity too uncomfortable at the moment. Today I've baked my usual cranberry cake for Dad's Christmas present, done a bit of ironing & wrapped lots of presents. Talked ourselves out of ordering an item online as if we wait till we can actually visit the shop, I have some 'Compliments' vouchers to use so can get it without any effect on the bank account.
Going to tuck up with a hot water bottle now & try not to worry. Mf f doing excellent job of looking after me.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

LuckyLady thing is NSDs are great but its keeping to your budget that really matters, and you are great at that.

Yorkshire yes I can well imagine. Zero waste is very important for food businesses as it all comes out of your margins.

Foxgloves Very glad Mr F is on hand to look after you.

    Evening all :)
Hope all goes well Katy Ann, thinking of you xx
Thinking of you too Foxgloves, hope all is sorted and your mind put at rest soon :(

Yorkshire Lass, I am sure your DS's posh workplace don't use my name for soup made from leftovers either - fridge bottom soup, we call it - could translate it into French I suppose :rotfl:

Small list today, as I have been looking after little GD. It was her birthday today, so not a NSD. Bought a '3' balloon and some birthday candles :) I gave her mummy a cheque to pay into her bank account in lieu of a present, as she has so many toys and clothes already.

Made a simple sponge yesterday evening, this morning I filled it with whipped cream and HM jam and let GD decorate it herself with sprinkles and choc buttons from the cupboard, and the fairy and number 3 candles we bought in town :) I had to keep lighting the candles for her to blow out, and singing Happy Birthday at regular intervals throughout the day :rotfl:

Sold 4 items on ebay, now wrapped ready for posting tomorrow :)
    3 onepoll surveys done
    RM surveys tasks
Received £2 of shopping vouchers from RM surveys, as payment for queueing to post a parcel (I queue to post parcels for my business most days, so this makes no difference to me :))
Sorted car insurance and breakdown cover, not easy with a 3 year old demanding attention while I was on the phone!
Walked into town with GD for birthday goodies this morning, for free exercise and to get her away from bloomin Peppa Pig :rotfl:
Used some of the stuff I made yesterday for meals, so no cooking needed today, unless you count a jacket potato :)

Right, off to bed now I think!

Cream crackered just drove 110 miles and staying over as I have a morning work meeting. However I've almost had a NSD except a Christmas decoration that I just bought for me DD but it was only £1 to charity!
    - eat an unusual roast dinner and pepper omelette for lunch which I made, cooled and ate at work!
    - got some used padded envelopes to recycle for my eBay sales
    - dinner on expenses
    - in company car so save on fuel to work
    - I'm building a huge list of stuff to do on my non working day on Friday.
    - in hotel now, so free breakfast
    - £co and hummingbird comps
    - check market research apps hut wouldn't have ha time anyway

Glad your resting and being looked after Foxglove, go Yorkshirelass!, Totally understand the Peppa Pig comment Dawn - luckily my DD has grown out of that! Bob on a doing fab with the NSDs - I don't know how you go on with essentials like bread, milk, fruit etc?
    Bye for now all x

Hello all, it's more than a year since I was here and I have fallen a long way from the wagon but it's good to see all the old names still here (but I didn't spot Ally?) and that you are all still going strong (and hugs to Foxgloves.)

If any of you remember me, the last time I was here I was selling my house to downsize and finally moved in January, I love the new house and I managed to pay £50,000 off of my mortgage which didn't clear it altogether but has made it more manageable!

My last contract came to an end roughly a year ago and I freelanced for a couple of months before being offered another maternity leave cover position which will end in February.

I've made no inroads whatsoever into my credit card debt apart from jiggling it from one 0% card to another. I'm full of good intentions but as fast as I pay one off so I run up another just on living expenses as I've left myself short

    On a positive DFW note:

I have been good on the lunches front and have been taking soup to work for what seems like forever.

We are burning the first pieces of a big bag of free wood that my mum's builder had sawn off of somebody's fence.

A lot of my Christmas Shopping has been done in sales at work and I've made up slipper/pampering parcels for all the girls in the family (inspired by Pinterest!) which are basically a pair of fluffy Primani slippers filled with face packs, hand cream, nail varnish, lip salve, hot chocolate sachet, chocolate bar, all of which I've either got for free or very cheaply at work. I'm just waiting on some cone bags to split up a bag of mini marshmallows to go with the hot chocolate and then they will be ready for wrapping!

I have earmarked this Saturday to put lots of stuff on eBay.

Most importantly... I am back here and ready to get back on the wagon!
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
