    Hello Monday Money Savers,
What a depressing day. It has poured with rain all day here, it hasn't even stopped once for 5 minutes & feels like it has barely got light. Early start with Dr's appt - have to be sent for some tests, so worried about those already - & decided to keep busy to stop me fretting. So here are today's money things:
*HMRC agreed that I am owed the princely sum of £33 & sent me a cheque.
    *Updated grocery budget.
*Transferred some money from Loan Pay Down Fund to current account & from thence to CC to pay for a new radiator we ordered yesterday. We don't have central heating & I think this will really improve winter temperatures in a not too expensive way.
*Energy provider wrote to me to say they are reducing our monthly payments to £80, a nice saving of £27 a month, which will help when interest rates go up & we have to pay more for the mortgage.
    *Did a few surveys.
*Ordered mr f's Christmas & birthday presents. One more thing to get, but I have vouchers for that, so no more expense involved.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Have left downstairs heating off today so far, but it will be going on in the next half an hour.
*All free leisure tonight - TV, knit, maybe read, fuss cat (who has had his legs crossed all day because of the torrential rain!)
    Take care, all.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

  • Evening all :hello:
Today definitely has not been the most mse day I've ever known :o I had a day off school - actually closed to staff and students. I had planned to stay home with a box set and the heating on, but my mam is a bit down at the moment so I arranged to go out shopping and have lunch with her. I think she thought that there was something wrong with me to be honest because I wasn't buying loads of stuff :rotfl: but I did buy a couple of Christmas bits. My mam also gave me £11 M&S vouchers she didn't want and insisted on buying lunch for us as well. Also decided that as I was having a spend day then I would get cat litter and fill up with petrol as well.
It's freezing cold and has rained all day but has been lovely having a day off and spending some time with my mam. I've stayed on top of the budget (only used my Christmas savings and grocery budget) and thought nothing of work at all.
Need an early night tonight mind...
Foxgloves - easier said than done but try not to worry.

Thanks for starting Ziggy! Nice to read all your updates. Totally agree about Christmas. I'm lucky that my DD takes her time opening presents and appreciates and plays with everyone. She is looking forward to opening her 85pence advent calendar, decorating the tree and all the other traditions. I don't set a limit on the number of presents she can list; this year she has listed 4. So I'm very lucky that she is a beautiful, caring and appreciative DD!

Busy day at work but managed:
    - took leftover roast dinner for lunch
    - FPL
    - Bumped to facebook sales
    - Posted eBay parcel
    - Came home to a letter saying I have 21,920 Best Western points which equals a free hotel stay, £50 M&S voucher or £50 White Company Voucher - kerching!!! Lovey jubley!
    - Check market research apps - some available but frankly couldn't be bothered in this weather.

Today has been wet, dark & cold. We've had the lights on all day :(

We've meal planned shopped until Friday. I may buy a few things on Thursday depending if we go to a specific shop, if we do I have written a list and will be sticking to it.

I have packed the bags for tomorrow's activities including snacks.

Today was a spendy day but all planned, groceries, diesel, children's gym classes.

All meals from stores. Making chicken stock over night in the slow cooker whilst we sleep as well as running the DW & WM.

I made a batch of porridge today so that is my breakfast taken care of for the next few days.

    RMS, FPL & Ashliegh done.

Renewed library loans and requested a few more.

  • Bob its funny because I have been trying to spend coppers too. I used to throw all my small change in a jar and wait until it was full before I had to faff around counting it and taking it to the bank. Now I use it to buy things - simple!

Hope its nothing serious Foxgloves. At least you are getting it checked out.

Busy day. 4 hrs paid stuff job no. 1, 3hrs paid stuff on job no. 2, then back to job no. 1 for a meeting.

Oh and I hope no-one is affected by this awful weather. Pics on the news of flooding, dreadful. See you tomorrow.
