Thrilled I've won £10 total on the Totalcashback hummingbird comp!
I only managed to get half my list done today, I'm exhausted so I think I did well. I stopped at Costa today and got a free mince pie and latte with my points. Always tastes nicer when it's free.
Away for the weekend now so I might be a bit quiet. Take care all, LP x
Damn it was 10 pence not 10 pound!!
At the hotel reading your posts making the most of the free coffee and will wash my hair in the morning using their hot water. Charging my phone and using their free wifi. I've got 3 pots of porridge for £1 for our breakfast in the morning, just need to add boiling water, saves us £15.

I too refrained from the whole commercialism of Black Friday. We did buy a matress yesterday but just because it was the first chance we'd both had chance to look. I do realise today that's made us part of the statistics. Damn :rotfl:
Today:
Banana cake in BM using manky bananas and one from freezer
Check banking, surveys and FPL
Keep knitting, have managed to get past neck opening
DD to two clubs each, both prepaid
Check if DD needs anything for nursery Christmas party tomorrow
Left over jackets from lunch
Something from freezer for tea
Check fridge and freeze what won't get used
Meal plan for week ahead, don't need meat maybe just a few veggies
Washing on airer
Enjoy your day folks. PF.
How rude of me not to wish dermined happy birthday for yesterday. Hope you had a lovely day yesterday and today.
Foxgloves hope you're doing ok and managing to keep yourself busy and not worrrying too much
Katy-Ann if you're reading hope you're ok
Bob hope the day turned out ok
Managed all of my list except we had omelette not JP for lunch will have JP tomorrow. One of DD classes cancelled at last minute, means we will get credit for February
Early night I think, going to snuggle in sofa and watch a film that DH has recorded off tv. Enjoy your evening folks.0 -

Was short lived 1LL - they left before paying him!! Now he's got to go chasing
He better not do it again. 3 hours driving in the fog and standing in the freezing cold for over 3 hours! Out the house for 7 hours in total and had to fill the car up and then he'll spend another 3 weeks trying to remind them to pay him.
He did bring in some wine so I am going to hit the bottle and see if that resolves my anger issues! :rotfl:0 -
1LuckyLady - I adapt the Golden Lentil Soup recipe from Rose Elliott's ' Cheap & easy vegetarian'. I make mine in the slow cooker like this:
Melt 15g butter or 1tbsp oil in slow cooker crock, add 1 large roughly chopped onion & cook for 2 or 3 mins, add 225g red split lentils & 1 litre ham stock. Crumble in half a vegetable stock cube.. Move crock to slow cooker base & put on 'low' for about 5 hours or until onions & lentils are v soft. Transfer to large jug, add 2 tsp lemon juice & season to taste with pepper & a bit of salt depending on how salty your ham stock was. If I've got a frozen parmesan rind saved, I chuck that in at the same time as the lentils & fish it out at the end when it will have spread its cheesyness.
The original recipe uses veg stock but lentils & ham go well together so I save & freeze ham stock from when I've cooked a ham hock in the slow cooker.
Anyway.....where was I? Oh yes.....so then you blitz the soup smooth with a hand blender. It freezes really well & it's very filling. Even mr f, who is built like a brick privy, can only manage a single bowlful of this!
Hope this helps, anyway.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Sadly the day did not pick up. Yes as you say La E one of those that you agree to do but on blind faith. The good thing for me is that my new business model is comprised almost entirely of known variables, so the hideous soul destroying feeling of a super long day for naff all is soon a thing of the past. Most annoyingly I'd projected my revenue for the event with a very low estimate (I thought) of £125 per day to cover my costs so £200 all in. When I did this same event in the early autumn we made £500....so go figure.
However my eBay pot that was supposed to be for paying off my CC is now going to be sucked into this black hole. That's what gets me down. It 'feels' like no matter how much I earn I can never have enough for all eventualities. But I do know that I have made progress this year so you have to try not to listen to that voice of doom and move on!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning!
Bob - sorry to hear that it didn't pick up
Well if rope climbs were measured in effort, I did at least ten. My arms and chest are sore and I have bruises all over my legs!
Used my new bow maker last night to decorate a bowl as bought some in-shell nuts for Christmas. We always had in-shell nuts at my mums when we were little but it's something that I've never done as an adult. They look really nice in the bowl
Work today but am trying to get going with a coffee now. Got a fair bit done last night when I got in.
Yesterday:carrielovesfanta wrote: »- B/D from stores. Not sure what dinner is yet... maybe risotto - done
- OH out all day at the gym. they are going to climb Mount Everest in rope climbs today for MacMillan. I am not very good at rope climbs and have contributed half a climb this morning
- went back at lunch time. total contribution 1.5 climbs! - Gym class at 7am!! (making the most of my monthly payment) - went
- Heating will be on as it's FREEZING here. - on fairly low though
- Don't know if I'm going to OH's gig tonight. Would like to but have no confirmed pals going so will probably have to give it a miss. - unlikely. Looks like DVD and crochet for me

- Charge phone in work- done
- Make some bread?- nope
- Lamb out for tomorrow - done
- No drinkies- done
- Check if I have enough bits for OH's advent calendar. It's a mix of miniatures, mini smellies, choccies and some more *ahem* adult items. Guy at the supermarket checkout looked a bit wry as they all went through.- done. Need a few more bits
- Get OH to strip the bed. Re-make later.- done
- Bit of rug dusting (ooo errr!) sad to say I'm a bit excited by this- done
- Tidy round- done
Today:- B/L/D from stores - get OH to cook the lamb. In fact, I may send him out to the garden to find some rosemary. This should be fun - he's a bit of a city boy - can't tell one plant from another!
- Charge phone in work - done
- No drinkies
- Run at lunchtime - weather permitting - too cold and long sleeved top in the wash
- Possible small spend at fave cafe from pocket money - not today
- Spreadsheet day! Going to be an interesting one as lots of Christmas present monies to be moved around
- Add duvet cover that I hate to the cs bag once it's dry
- Relist ebay items - made a start
- Scour work for boxes to send some ebay items - done
- Crochet - finally getting going now my counting issues are resolved.
- Think about how to use the apples that my neighbour kindly gifted us - OH found a bag of them on the back door handle yesterday

- OH to do housework - done
- Water chilli plants - done

Hi all
Bob that's the worst of running your own business, the unknowns. DH cant work in winter if the weather is really bad but so far this year we have done really well. How long will it last though and is what I have set aside enough. No way of knowing.
Worked out some figures last night and December is going to be really tight. However Christmas is just about sorted. I have bought DS2 new trainers which I found online for £55 - usually £75. Of course we would have to buy these anyway but I know he will love them and the ones he has now are scruffy. In fact he could do with a new coat as well but I am dithering about that.
Trying to have a chilled out day today before the madness of the week sets in. Lots of paid stuff next week, DS to hospital for his regular treatment and Mum to take Christmas shopping.
More coffee I think.0 -
La e that's shocking, some people have no morals and thought for others.
Today DH were treated to a lie in until 8am as smalls woke up and played in their room :A
Today will look like:
DD2 to nursery Christmas party, already paid for (for charity)
Meals from stores
Make muffins
Go for a run
Knit
Placed an order online for something, was on offer on and was showing a discount so I thought that was it but when I got the email confirmation realised it wasn't applied. Decide if I cba to e mail them for £2 missed discount
Quick tidy round
Get ready for Monday
Plan what to do tomorrow on my day off
Enjoy your Sunday. PF.0
