Minimum marriage age in Morocco is just 12. I just hope that your next post isn't to say that 'this nice young man' is coming to the UK for a 'holiday'.

The meals together - were at the hotel - other entertainers sat with guests as well - I can assume the mum thought this was normal, she presumed as he had been warned off he had abided by it... he sent the trust she gave him x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • If he is in Morocco then it's unlikely they will see each other again, and I'm sure your friends daughters interest in him will fizzle out soon enough, but I think now is probably a good time for your friend to talk to her about consent and boundaries.
...And I think you might need to have a talk with your friend about the situation and the potential dangers as she seems a bit oblivious.

No they don't, but we are talking about a child who has just turned 14.

I don't understand the question, they should not be "facebook friends" never mind "getting fresh" on a balcony.

    Had to share this....

Just had a message from the mum... she has steam coming out of her ears...

    Basically -
he will get engaged to the daughter when they go back next year (they have booked already as they made friends with another family and are all going back same time)
When she is 17 they will marry in the uk - with mums permission
They will live between the uk and go to Morocco for the summer
Wait to have children when there married

He's saving for her engagement ring

As she knows his wages aren't much - about £200 per month - he send £150 back home
As he's started saving for the ring - could mum help him out he needs...
    900dh (£80) for protein shakes
500dh -(£45) for money 2wards his sisters rent

Apparently the hotel is quiet as it's winter season and he has to take his annual holidays - he would like to come to the uk - but it will be too cold

Transpired she gave money across there she said it was £20 as a thank you for taking them out.

    .... I didn't say I told u so thou I was tempted... x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Or that he's suddenly in need of money and can you send him a 'loan'.

I'd also be concerned about whether she is sending him any revealing photos of herself - otherwise the request for money could come with a threat to post the photos on the web.

    Ahh, true love!
Did the mother receive this message or the daughter?
Probably a good idea if they change their holiday plans for next year...

    Yes - in Marrakesh x

Whether 'grooming' or simply cultural differences, the UK Police wouldn't have jurisdiction (or inclination) to take action.

Age of consent in Morocco appears to be 18 following a quick Google.

That's a fairly substantial development in just 12 hours though, and a lot of info for a text! Are the timescales here true to life OP or are you condensing?

There are so many stories out there, about men marrying (generally older) women in order to get residency in the UK. I'm just surprised that the entertainer went for the daughter and not the mum!

I would definitely advise not returning phone calls/emails/letters - definitely not sending money to him and also changing the holiday for next year!
