Havent read the whole thread but echo what everyone has said about the Bero book. I make things like the rock cakes and freeze them, then take them straight out and put them in lunch boxes on a morning.

Twinks famous hob nob recipe can also be made as flapjack. I use half the sugar and throw some raisins or cherries in instead but the original recipe works just as well. Put it in a baking tray and bake for 20 mins. This is the only flapjack that I have ever had much success with!

  • 4oz golden syrup
    6oz demerara sugar
    9oz butter
    12oz oats

Melt the first three, stir in the oats and press in to greased baking tray and cook for about 15mins at 180c. Flapjack perfection!

  • My pleasure. I made some yesterday and added chopped dried apricots, grated stem ginger and a teaspoon of dried ginger. Think I have put on a stone since then...... The recipe seems to work whatever you add - have done many variants in the past. Grated fresh apple and cinnamon, raisins and choc chips, nuts and seeds (when I was feeling particularly healthy)......excuse me while I go to the kitchen and get another piece.....

Really want to bake, don't want to leave the house! I've got the following - plain flour, sugar, golden syrup, honey, milk, butter/marge, chocolate chips - any ideas?

No eggs  You could make choc chip cookies - loads of recipes on Google :D

If you have oats you could make flapjack.
