  • Went our February trip to a hotel outside Edinburgh dalmahoy - it was good to get away for 2 nights and went into Edinburgh and saw the Britannia ship on Sunday and then Monday went to the national museum and then camera obsecura on Monday - great fine dry day for the views at the top. It was good as we had not really taken the kids to Edinburgh even though it’s only 1hr travelling from us.

next trip is near Easter. We have just booked part of our summer holidays last night and hope to book a few days previous to this elsewhere in the next coming days - all new places we have not been to so excited about this.

  • I have been making payments for the mortgage. In January I made a payment of £250. In February I have made a payment of £2350 & £3250 today.

Made the bigger payment from our savings to try to bring part 3 of our mortgage down a bit before we have to renew in September 2022. This is the larger part of our mortgage from the extension and with talk of interest rates rising more I made the limit of the overpayment to this and will see what happens when we renew later in the year.

Hopefully it’s around what we are paying 2.54% as this was the rate we got 5yrs ago and hopefully just take out a 2yr fix and then fingers crossed will be able to pay this off - time will tell how we get on.

Hope to make smaller payments until then to part 1 or part 2. Will try to keep you updated.

    Well done on the overpayments.

    Look forward to many more.

The break did sound good and plenty of new experiences achieved.

Looking forward to hearing about your next adventures.

    Take care.
  • Daughter was due to go to get her 2nd vaccine this weekend since it's 12weeks since she had covid. Well we will put off for at least a week since my son came home from school yesterday really ill and we did a test and to he is positive. At least we don't all have to isolate this time round. He seems better today but can't believe it we have this again. I'm the only one who has not had it and fingers crossed I don't get it.

Hiya been a long time since I was on here and lots has happened. Son recovered ok from COVID but was off for the full 10 days before going back to school.

We were away for Easter break to arran - it was a great break away and we thoroughly enjoyed it. New place we have stayed to add to our holiday list - want to visit new places. In the summer we are going to 2 more new places which will be exciting.

Father in law was seriously unwell for the last 2 years and was housebound. Anyway the short version is that after a very stressful and emotional week he passed away on Tuesday 10th may. Things are going ok and we are all taking baby steps. Husband thinks he is ok but he is not but funeral is arranged for 26th may - so still got a bit of time to go. Younger son is ok and daughter is coping so so. It was for the best as he has no quality of life but it still hits you hard.

Managed to make payment in March of £100 and £150 in April. Going today to make payment of £150 for may.

It’s only small payments the now and then will have to decide what to do in September for part 3. With the way things are i am seriously thinking of paying this off when we come out of the deal with savings as it roughly £25000, but need to think and discuss with hubbie.

On a lighter note paid our summer holiday there - going to Birmingham for 3 nights (Cadbury’s world and daughter wants to go to primark) and then to a lodge in lake Windermere.

Our sofa is broke so went out to put down a deposit on a new leather sofa - money is there from hubbie work bonus. Anticipated in August so got a bit to go for this to arrive.

My condolences to you and your family.

    Baby steps are the answer.

All your holidays sound fantastic, have a great time.

    Take care.

  • We got a letter from mortgage provider to say that part 3 deal (this was the extra money for our extension)was expiring soon so we reserved a 2yr deal of 2.84% which starts july. We are saving a whole £2 on our monthly payments. The outstanding amount for this part is £25150.

I am pretty miffed as I made a big chunks of overpayments and because of the interest rates rising and another decision to be made this week, we are still paying the same fixed amount each month.

I wanted to pay this off in September when it came out of the deal but hubbie wants the money to be there just in case needed. Hopefully in 2yrs we can pay off a section of mortgage and get the amount down
