We were due to go away this week to a flat in fort William but with added restrictions not sure kids would be happy and youngest would probably say I'm bored all the time so we cancelled. Didn't lose money which was good as a friend's flat. We have been out for lunch a few times with different friends, going to almond valley with kids and picnic tomorrow and got afternoon tea sorted for Friday just our house. At least we have done a few things during the holiday but glad at home. Due to go shopping on Thursday to try to get hubbies birthday present which he needs to see if he likes or wee trainer shoes.
Hope to pay something towards the mortgage later week or next Monday for October.
Have told the kids no going out for Halloween. We will do some Halloween games in the house in the afternoon and if restaurants are back open in central.belt we will try to book a table to go out for hubbies birthday.2 -
Made an recent overpayment to the mortgage of £1000 so that a total of £1150 for October. Started to do Christmas shopping in case lockdown happens or shops are closed so have started. Will need to see if I can get the kids finished tomorrow whilst off so I have most stuff in as there is talk of Lanarkshire which is where we live going into tier 4.On Saturday it’s Halloween so we are doing a virtual Halloween party with neighbours along the road and do party games via zoom then hopefully we will have a takeaway since it’s hubbies birthday. Got most of my sons birthday presents in for begin December so happy about this and will see what I else I can get before the end of the week. Adults we can just do present later if need be.3

Very well done on your overpayments.
You sound very organised with your birthday/christmas shopping.
Take care

The other week I made an overpayment of £250 for December before the level 4 lockdown, even though banks are open.Still only a few bits and pieces to get for the adults Xmas presents and then try to think what hubbie wants - which is very hard as he gives no ideas.Weekends fairly lazy as I don’t want to go anywhere unless needed. Food shopping will be done tomorrow once kids at school and then back home - the joys.I bought our usual size turkey and it’s in the freezer, so we got so this in and only need to get the other food stuff nearer the time. Even though it maybe only the 4 of us we will use the leftovers for turkey sandwiches and of course a few turkey curries - so will be used up.

well these last few days the supermarket has been busier at the tills so bought lots for Christmas dinner and in the freezer, just to get more booze in and try not to drink it before Christmas.Done all Christmas shopping now. Some are wrapped up and hubbie not really got much but he has several things to open on Christmas Day so I’m done.We have sorted out our Christmas Day arrangements now - my brother who lives alone is coming for dinner. We will visit hubbie parents in the morning to swap parcels. Hubbie dad not too good so it maybe the last one and it’s pants that we can’t really see them properly. We will visit my parents on Boxing Day to swap parcels and a quick chat in the garden.1

Whilst out at the shops today I bought my brother a wee prelim Christmas tree and decorations. He lives alone and had no decorations. He has put it up and looks good even though it’s only 2 ft tall.2

We had a nice Christmas Day and kids all happy with Santa presents. On Christmas night son went to bed but kept on coming downstairs to see if we were in bed as we need to be in bed before Santa comes. At 12midnight we went to bed to see if he would go to sleep eventually. Late night and we got up early to put the turkey in the oven at 6.30am to cook before we visited my in-laws. It was good visiting them for an hour as father in law is really not well and we think this is his last Christmas but time will tell. He was having a good day so that was good.We came back and my brother was over for Christmas dinner as he lives alone and is not coping well, we have decided to make a bubble with him as he needs to get out of the flat a bit more. He had a good time playing with sons presents and we watched a few pantos on ukulele which were funny. He walked home with hubbie only about 15mis walk since no taxis were about. Saw my parents in the back garden on Boxing Day to exchange presents. The last few days have been relaxing and presents are still about the living room but they will be put away before the new year.Hope to do my finances in the next few days will report how fast the mortgage has gone down but I think we have done well this year as had not much to spend our money on. C you in a few days time. Bye for now and hope you all had a nice Christmas yourself.2

Well we have reached Hogmanay. Let's hope 2021 gets better for us all even if it's later in the year or summer. We are slouching in the living watching ice age 3 and played a few computer games on the telly waiting for midnight to arrive. Hopefully youngest will sleep in longer than 7.30pm tomorrow but time will tell. Happy new year when it comes.1

Did the finances today for January. Started 2020 mortgage at £88843.69. made overpayments of £7755 throughout this year so the remaining balance is £72510.76.
I have put myself forward for the 2021 challenge but only put down £2000 to be paid off but hopefully will pay off a bit more as not spending as much money the now and it's just been going into the savings but may transfer some tothe mortgage. Loving seeing it go down and can't bidve that 3 yes ago we were £115000 as we took out money for our extension. Have made a good dent in this and will continue with this.1
