I don't use my debit card at all and my current account hasn't been affect at present. Wonder if others like me are the same?

I don't use my debit card at all - its never even left the house but the available balance on one of my accounts is down over £1600.
Can't see the pending transactions though but spoke to Tesco this morning and apparently the account had been flagged as affected even though I didn't get the original text message. So carefully check the available balance on your account not just the account balance to be sure.0 -
It's going to be very interesting when the truth behind this comes out. Most likely possibility seems either inside job, or a phishing attack directed at Tescos account holders only (maybe they got hold of an email list?) and then a coordinated attack on accounts at the weekend when there are few security staff working.0

as per for earlier poster - debit card has never been used (or left the drawer where it's stored), 13 ch random password and not been phished.
Took the grand total of £14.63 ! from mine.
had several tesco texts - gave up trying to get thru on the phones0 -
The R4 interview with Bernie Higgins (CEO of Tesco Bank) is on the BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37891742 Seems to be saying that online transactions have been suspended for all customers. There's account access but whether he really means all online transacrions or just online debit card transactions isn't too clear.
Also some misleading rubbish there with someone called Robert Schifreen, editor of the computer safety website Security Smart, telling them "It could be, for example, that people have been attaching skimming devices, card readers and cameras specifically to Tesco's cash point machines, so that they've been capturing people's accounts there," which is clearly nonsense, as are suggestions that it could be the result of a phishing operation.
I've just tested my and Mrs R's accounts, two each and can't do debitcard transfers on any of them even though we only had texts about two of them.0 -
I got a text this morning informing me that "we have taken the precautionary measure of suspending online transactions from your current account".
I assume that is for everyone - that would make sense. Checked the account yesterday and today and all the money is intact.
The plonker from "Security Smart" clearly hadnt a clue what was happening as it was clear yesterday that it was an online incident, not card based. Card skimmers and cameras are a complete red herring!0 -
Yeah I've had a text this morning but won't be able to check my account until later.
At least I'm not relying the money in there imminently and will get it back if any has gone.
Feel sorry for those relying on it and unable to pay bills etc.0 -
I missed all this yesterday, got a text this morning and saw the front page login message.
I've logged in and used current and saver accounts as normal without any apparent blocks this morning. Two current, saver and cc accounts all seem to be unaffected thank goodness.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
I also got the same text message. Interestingly it appears that payments can still be made via the Tesco bank app, just sent a test payment to another account and it worked ok. So if you do need to send payments then use the app instead.greenglide wrote: »I got a text this morning informing me that "we have taken the precautionary measure of suspending online transactions from your current account".
There is also an update screen that displays as soon as you launch the app.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Why is that rubbish?
Seems quite possible to me that someone got hold of a Tescos account list, phished that over a few days or weeks and then made a coordinated attack on all the accounts they'd got details for in one hit over a weekend, so as to maximize their chances of success.0
