Hello,
Just a heads up that Tesco Bank have been warning customers about fraud on multiple customer accounts
https://yourcommunity.tescobank.com/t5/News/Suspicious-Activity-Texts/m-p/6538/highlight/false#M208

I hope it is not an internal computer breach!

Likely to be internal as many report never having used the cards.0 -

That's what I was thinking. Never used my card, only use the account for savings.0 -
Probably no point calling them now, there will be a queue of 1000's waiting to get thru.0

Seem to be in serious spot of bother as they don't seem able to identify which accounts may have been effected and which not.
I got a text at 2.00am asking to speak to me to me about one of my two accounts The one they asked me to call about looks ok but the other has a payment pending for £300 that wasn't authorised. Other people on twitter complaining that they've had money taken and not had a text while Mrs R also got a text from them but both of her accounts look ok.
Was in a phone queue for 40 minutes being told to hold on and how much they valued my call. So may be worth checking accounts but what you do if you find there is a problem but can't contact them isn't clear. Would help if they changed the call waiting message to something useful (like don't bother?).
Won't do confidence much good so not what Tesco needs at this point.
Whoops, there's already a long thread on the banking forum, which makes this post a bit superfluous: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/55521460 -
Presumably the available balance told you if anything is pending? Probably wise for all of us with accounts to check the figures every day until we know the full story.0

Its being discussed already here:

Yes 'available balance' down by £300.
They've now updated the phone message to say that if you've received a text message a new debit card will be sent. So will I get a new card for the account I received the text about, and looks fine, or for the account I've had no text for but has clearly been compromised. I'd intended to use the debit cards for both accounts tomorrow so may be screwed as far as Tesco are concerned either way.
Yes and there's already a post two above yours updated an hour before you posted saying that it's already being discussed there. Its being discussed already here:

Given most people are likely to use these for the 3 per cent interest and there is no minimum monthly payment it is quite likely fraud could go undetected for a while. .
I have always found the Tesco logging in system a bit lax - no card readers or telephone confirmations required to login or set up new payees. If you can get logged in to someone else's account it's easy to move money to a new payee very easily.0 -
If it's an inside job, then nobody is safe.
I want to open a bank account with Gringotts, pronto.
Can muggles apply?0
