    That makes absolutely no sense.
    Not to you perhaps.

I transfer funds to my brokers accounts using debit cards, including the Tesco debit cards often several times a month. Make more sense now? If you you prefer to use another term then please feel free.
  • I've got a Tesco 5 year fixed rate account. It was opened by cheque, and no withdrawals until maturity, so I assume I'm not affected?

It's just the current a/cs that are affected as far as I am aware

I think the poster means depositing funds in a savings account (such as YBS) or paying a credit card bill over the phone/online by debit card?
Pretty much though more specifically I was referring using a debit card to transfer funds into broker accounts, P2P platforms etc. rather than paying bills.

How do you check for pending transactions??

Maybe people who do not use their debit cards are safe?

No! I haven't used my debit card and money has gone from my a/c.
The key factor is what is the balance pending? That's when I realised money had gone awol. It shows on the screen

Ah well, it will be sorted & money refunded, with hopefully a goodwill gesture!!

Do you get instant value for that, or is there a clearing period?

It had better be, there's an awful lot of dosh in there! I explicitly asked for no online access, so I hope they weren't just humouring me.

I don't think missing £28 is exactly news worthy!!

I disagree. Points systems run by supermarket are totally different to the bank.

According to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), protecting customers (and employees) against cyber attacks is a board-level responsibility.

It is newsworthy if 20,000 people are missing £28 on the same day at the same bank
