My money is back but my card won't work in ATMs. Does anyone know what the phone queues are like at the moment?
I rang shortly after 7pm tonight. I was not on hold for long.

Somebody had attempted £700 worth of purchases from one of my accounts, but the payments were blocked. I was told that new cards are being sent to all whose cards were compromised.

There will be very people (if any) within the bank with unencrypted bulk cvv numbers and bulk PAN numbers.

My guess would be their debit cards aren't issued in-house.

At this present time I'm not too concerned about ID theft. Based on what we know so far it all points to a failure at a Tesco Bank or a 3rd party on how they handled the card details, most probably a bad employee or contractor. The fact they are still allowing transactions with the PIN and online banking is still available suggests the fraudsters got: The card number, expiry date, name and cvv. They may also have the billing address but less likely. If the fraudsters had hacked the website then we would be seeing it taken down and access to savings accounts also restricted.

Calling Tesco, there is an automated statement saying there has been a "3rd party data breach".

    Sure, Tesco ...

And my missing money has been refunded

I am still rather concerned how it escaped in the first place because I have never used my debit card for purchases or withdrawing money from a machine....... it has nothing to do with verification by Visa!

Now this has appeared on the website (shame it didn't appear earlier
    :)

Tesco Bank can confirm that, over the weekend, some of its customers’ current accounts have been subject to online criminal activity, in some cases resulting in money being withdrawn fraudulently.
We apologise for the worry and inconvenience that this has caused for customers, and can only stress that we are taking every step to protect our customers’ accounts. As a precautionary measure, we took the decision on Sunday 6 November 2016 to temporarily stop online transactions from current accounts. This will only affect current account customers. While online debit transactions will not be available, current account customers will still be able to use their cards for cash withdrawals, chip and pin payments, and all existing bill payments and direct debits will continue as normal. We are working hard to resume normal service on current accounts as soon as possible.
We can reassure customers that any financial loss as a result of this activity will be resolved fully by Tesco Bank. This afternoon we began the process of refunding all customer current accounts that have been subjected to online criminal activity and we expect this process to be completed by the end of tomorrow.
We continue to work with the authorities and regulators to address the fraud and will keep our customers informed through regular updates on our website, Twitter and Your Community.
If customers have any concerns at all, we would advise them to contact our customer service team who will be able to provide assistance

    Earlier?

That, or perhaps a version only very slightly shorter, was already on the website at 6 am, both before and after logging in.

Perhaps you meant during the previous day?

    I have another question...

I have 2 accounts and my interest has always been paid on the 6th and the 8th. My first account received its interest on the 6th as normal but the one that's paid on the 8th hasn't received its interest yet.

Is anyone else missing interest? I guess its somehow related to the other issues but just wondered if others are in the same boat?

    Cheers

Whilst the date on your statement will be the 8th, it's paid at the end of the day. Check again tonight.

I'm not at all surprised at all and I'm glad that I pulled out of opening a Tesco Bank Current Account due to their inefficiency in getting the account open. Right now I have my money in proper banks.

Update on my story..... As I couldn't get through to Tesco Bank over the weekend, I 'phoned again at about 4.30pm yesterday and got through straight away.
The operative I spoke with has limited access to see my account details but did tell me that there are no pending transactions.

However, my available balance is still £763 below what it should be.

I'm expecting a call from the Fraud Dept. any anytime.............

Police hunt fraudsters from Brazil and Spain who stole millions in attack on Tesco Bank - Daily Mail
One said somebody tried to pay for goods in Rio de Janeiro at 9am on Sunday with his card, despite the fact he never used it himself. He said: 'It appears to the bank that someone has worked out the algorithm to create card numbers and start/end dates.

'They told us that the specific transaction was a card-holder present and it was a swipe of the magnetic strip-type of transaction.'
