    Earlier?

That, or perhaps a version only very slightly shorter, was already on the website at 6 am, both before and after logging in.

Perhaps you meant during the previous day?

Yes, that's exactly what I meant .........when folk were stuck on the phone for..... a while!

According to researchers at Newcastle University in the UK, the contactless function in the card system developed by VISA for use in the United Kingdom fails to recognize transactions made in non-UK foreign currencies and can therefore be tricked into approving any transaction up to 999,999.99.

I'm sticking with Tesco - I wasn't affected but even had I been, I'd have waited for the cash to be restored.

The fraud was detected, the company have apologised, restitution is being made very quickly if posts on here are anything to go by and no doubt the company will learn from whatever it was that happened.

Their on line communication could have been better and I see little point in inviting people to telephone when it must have been obvious that this would overwhelm the system.

However, I have benefited ( and hope to continue to benefit) from the 3% no strings interest rate ( not but what when there was a minimum pay in, it was easy enough to meet by internal transfer).

A long cool look rather than mass hysteria seems to be required.

Has anyone, other than Gers (post 284) had a call back from Tesco fraud dept yet?

I was told in the very early hours of Sunday that they would call me within 2 days.

Small fraudulent transaction has been refunded but I don't want a reissued debit card for the compromised account to be sitting in a RM pigeon hole for several weeks.

Not sure I can face another wait on the phone if I have to call them.

If like me you are using two accounts for the interest. Just don't activate the cards when they arrive. They can not be used then.

I don't profess to have any clue as to how this fraud was carried out, but for the record Mrs D and I have four accounts between us, and four debit cards which had gone straight from the envelopes that they were delivered in, to our safe. They have never been anywhere near an ATM or used for any other types of transactions.

Mrs D had pending debits of over £1100 on one of her accounts and I had just over £20 on one of mine.

I spoke to them Sunday morning too and was promised a call back from fraud dept within 48 hours but nothing as yet.

Same here, it seems that they are not bothering to call people back within 48 hours, as promised!

Or 48 hours was an unrealistic time to call back all customers.

Partially agree, however, my long cool look makes me question whether the risk to my ID is worth it for 3% no strings attached.

But the customers are not making them any money and never will?
I know Tesco are one of the worst structured business in the UK, but this stupidity is surly taking it too far?

I expect every current account available that pays in-credit interest is designed to get the customers in and then have a go at selling them a credit card, a loan, a mortgage etc etc. It's effectively just a marketing tool.

I've got myself a Tesco Credit Card following opening the current account. They're not likely to make any money out of me from that either but others will generate enough revenue to justify the cost involved in the interest payments.
