I'm talking about academics in my wider social circle, but my point is that if we introduce conditions where the academics or successful business people find life easier overseas, a lot of them will go overseas, and we'll be left to fill in the gaps.

Realistically, just like the Brexiteers demands on immigration, most UK based professionals of any ilk should have an easy enough time moving to Europe (or Asia or wherever) because they have a desirable skillset. They are more likely to be pro-EU, and more likely to have voted leave.

But most of them won't be making a big deal of it, they'll just quietly leave and then we'll need to import someone to do their job, because the people most likely to stay in the UK are those that are likely to be unqualified.

Take doctors for instance, a huge proportion of them have considered moving out of the UK after Hunts purge on them, and that'll be made even worse with the Tories continued onslaught. We already have to import doctors to keep up.

I assume you would never vote for a political party that would raise taxes as this might mean clever people might find it more desirable to live overseas.

I find it somewhat odd that doctors would leave because of brexit.

You'd assume wrong then. Most clever people are happy to pay their own way; they just don't want to have their funding or income streams cut away from under them.

But then you can't conceive anything going wrong with brexit either.

Personally, as someone who did spend a couple of years working overseas, I think people working abroad for a few years is a great thing.

It gives people a much broader perspective on life, and you pick up all sorts of good attitudes and practices which improve things back home. The key example I would give is the ridiculous level of negativity and cynicism which seems to prevail among the Great British public, particularly when discussing politics - you simply don't get that in other countries.

Of course you also learn to appreciate many of the good bits of being in the UK that most people take for granted.

In my ideal world everyone would spend a few years working abroad. 99% of people will come back. Connections with family and friends tend to far outweigh the benefits of moving abroad for more than a couple years.

Always tickles me how the British think the whole world is talking about them, people like Poly Toynbee claiming we are a laughing stock and yet when I'm abroad I see the UK is virtually never mentioned, why would it be.

And if we're a laughing stock and going darn the pan, funny how the Indian leader is insisting more of his citizens can come to Britain.

I wonder why it is thousands of EU citizens are still CHOOSING the UK every month, given the remaoaners claim we're a laughing stock and down the pan

    Are they?

Plus, you can find a populations self destructive nature funny whilst still working there for a while. We've got a bit longer before foreigners are being rounded up.

Not easy for business people to move abroad. Replicating what you've built is far from easy. If not impossible.

We've become a zombie state locked into whole world of trouble. There are suddenly much more attractive places to live. UK PLC just lost its mojo.

We will lose some good people and attract less good people because of Brexit and we'll be worse for it.

In five or ten years when the dust settles the UK might make a come back , until then, it's no longer a 'must be' place.

    The UK branding is tarnished.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.
