The pessimism is ill founded, and every pessimist I ever met said they were a realist.

Not all pessimism is ill founded.
You lot still don't get the fact all sorts of high volume trade goes on without any trade deal what so ever, you are sort of transfixed by trade deals. We are completely altering the way we interact wi the world. People fear change, but what a waste of energy.

No-one has debated that lots of high volume trade happens, and that's not what we're actually talking about.
The Customs Unions makes prices of textiles and other imports more expensive. Odd that you never mention this in your marmite rants

It makes some things more expensive, it makes other things cheaper. I'm still not sure I get your point?

Has anyone noticed how many well educated people are talking about leaving the Uk since Brexit ? Half of London seems to be devising plans to shoot to Canads or oz at the moment.

We should worry about loosing good people not worry about gaining them right now.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

No, the only people who seem to be talking about leaving the UK are people already living abroad but just 'love' the UK.

Ignoring the fact that you're completely wrong, again, if all of those people genuinely do live abroad but own property and spend money in the UK, then those are the ones we want most - they boost our economy whilst not actually using any of our services.

However, an awful lot of people who are considering leaving do actually live here, pay taxes here etc. We're at a serious risk of brain drain as our academics, entrepreneurs and visionaries move to somewhere more... liberal? Conductive to their work?

    your logic is somewhat amusing

given we are 5 months from the referendum already, would you like to give a six month prediction in the decline in the UK population?

which countries are they moving too that is more liberal ? is that ones that support your view of free speech of not criticising the authorities?

Given that we haven't actually triggered A50 yet, or announced any plans, what makes you think anyone would move yet? The time since the referendum is irrelevant.

We're not talking about noisy reactionaries - we're talking about people making calm considered decisions, and we probably won't even notice they are going until they are gone.

What does that even mean in this context? Are you running out of soundbites?

So who exactly are we talking about?
People in the public eye or people in your private circle?
The only one I know of is Mark Carney and I believe he's staying longer than he originally intended to see us through a rough patch.
I haven't heard of any others in the public eye.

I'm talking about academics in my wider social circle, but my point is that if we introduce conditions where the academics or successful business people find life easier overseas, a lot of them will go overseas, and we'll be left to fill in the gaps.

Realistically, just like the Brexiteers demands on immigration, most UK based professionals of any ilk should have an easy enough time moving to Europe (or Asia or wherever) because they have a desirable skillset. They are more likely to be pro-EU, and more likely to have voted leave.

But most of them won't be making a big deal of it, they'll just quietly leave and then we'll need to import someone to do their job, because the people most likely to stay in the UK are those that are likely to be unqualified.

Take doctors for instance, a huge proportion of them have considered moving out of the UK after Hunts purge on them, and that'll be made even worse with the Tories continued onslaught. We already have to import doctors to keep up.
