Seems like the Indians only want Brexit for one reason

That doesn't invalidate anything he says. I also assume there's a lot less emotional baggage between India and Australia as there is between India and the UK :j
The removal of the post study work visa, which offered internationals two years to work in the UK after completing a degree here, did untold damage to relations with the subcontinent.
Indians are, or were, pretty positive about the UK, but they definitely believe that we owe them at least some access to the UK once they reach a certain level of individual affluence, (and they more than have a point) and are very very sensitive to post colonial arrogance.
As most international students were Indian, most Indians thought the PSW existed to allow them to spend some time in the UK, and most PSW visas were given to Indians, it doesnt take a genius to work out what the UK wanted less of when it canned the PSW scheme.
Unless you have spent time there speaking to people and absorbing the media, you cannot begin to believe how personally offended the Indian nation was by this. Every bad news story about England that came out of the UK press (which they all read) was magnified 1000 times by their own.
Hosepipe ban in Sussex? Britishers have no water at all.
UK economy dips. 80% of Britishers out of work and starving.
India (gleefully) turns down BAE's eurofighter bid at the last minute. Britishers crying into their bowler hats as manufacturing collapses.
And this is the main point that appears to be lost on Brexiters. The UK has a very 'diverse' and variable relationship with most other countries. In a sense Germany did us a favour in 1939 because what everyone remembers now is German imperliasm not the British version.
The world isn't necessarily waiting for us with open arms. Australia has its own issues with the UK. Annoying the entire Continent of Europe and hoping that the Commonwealth is going to work out when it didn't before is risky.0 -

The majority of the trade accounts for commodities, predominantly gold (how much gold can we export to India, Conrad?), and education. I.e. Indian students studying at Australian universities and language schools and taking advantage of Aus's generous post study work visa.
As May has just ruled out any thawing in visa relations, especially for students, and Modi says the UK isnt getting in unless she does do, I think it's safe to say we aren't about to be exporting a great deal there.
But don't despair. I understand that Liam Fox is cooking up an absolutely wizard Brexit wheeze to ship kajillions of British Sterling Pounds worth of sand to the Arabs. He's insistent that they are queuing up to buy it.
At every turn you see gloom and barriers, I see opportunity and excitement. EU trade wont be hampered, and we are now getting more globally engaged.0 -

When those with experience see doom and gloom, and those without show obsessive optimism, which ones should you pay attention to?
He's not choosing to see doom and gloom just do rain on your parade, he seems doom and gloom because his experience shows him that it's doom and gloom. I know you feel that everything can be overcome by optimism and British pluck, but that's not how reality works.0 -
Leavers claiming 'Britain will be great again' seem to be relying on those who oppose brexit: industry, entrepreneurs, employers, scientists...Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0

Oh well....another day, another lie from project porkies exposed.
Our Local Curry house had a "Vote Leave" poster and I asked if after reducing EU immigration, would the governments priority be to allow more Bangladeshi's in... don't think so, they've been mugged!!!0 -
The Curry houses are not happy about lying Brexiteers

indeed one would expect no less
if I ran a business like that, I too would want to hold wages down : I'm just a little surprised that all the 'socialist' types think it is a good idea.0 -
This worked out well for them.... couldn't have seen that coming, doh!!

The pessimism is ill founded, and every pessimist I ever met said they were a realist.
You lot still don't get the fact all sorts of high volume trade goes on without any trade deal what so ever, you are sort of transfixed by trade deals. We are completely altering the way we interact wi the world. People fear change, but what a waste of energy.
The Customs Unions makes prices of textiles and other imports more expensive. Odd that you never mention this in your marmite rants0 -
Diplomatically there are easier ways to capture Indian market. For example, supporting India (rather than Pakistan) on Kashmir issue can make wonders.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
