    Good afternoon,

I've been benefiting from a Lebara sim-only deal £0.01 for months 1-6, £5.90 for months 7-12. I'll soon start paying the £5.90/month. Lebara have since released a deal at £0.99 for months 1-6, then £4.90 month thereafter.

Is there any reason why I can't switch to the latter midway, since these are month-long contracts only? It seems odd that I can switch from £0.01 to £.0.99 halfway through, ultimately paying only £5.00 for 12 months of connection? Would I keep the same sim-card and number, or would these need to change? I think I may be missing something...

Thanking you in advance for your response(s),

    Kind Regards.

A number of people have used another email address to sign up for a new deal, then ported their numbers out then back to lebara to take advantage of new customer deals. I suspect that you wouldn't be able to simply transfer your plan to a new introductory deal.

I don't think there is a need to even use another e-mail address as each account can have up to 4 sims.

Now this is proper MSE territory. Good stuff!

But I think it's only one deal per email address. Additional sims would be charged at normal rates

I think that too. I have written previously about having to set up another account using a different e-mail address, to those already used, to qualify for the new customer deals.

OK, thanks.  I must be mixing it up with the Lebara deals.

Yes, a new email address is needed. Very easy if you have a Gmail account. If your address is something like firstnamelastname@gmail dot com, you can use firstname.lastname@ etc or indeed put the '.' anywhere in the first bit, and Gmail still recognises as your email, but Lebara/Lyca don't :)

I have sim only monthly recurring bundle unlimited data @ up to 10mbps with Asda mobile and I have just got a text from them saying they are dropping the price from £25 to £22 per month.

EDIT: I live on my own and don’t have a landline. I find the 10mbps absolutely fine for Netflix streaming etc on my TV & I don’t do gaming or anything that needs a faster connection. Previously I was with Smarty at £18.99/month (which uses the Three network) but unfortunately when I moved 2 years ago I couldn’t get a decent signal, however Asda mobile uses the Vodafone network which has a strong reliable signal at home.

I am overseas a lot and so I don't have a UK mobile. But I need a UK mobile number to receive bank texts (OTP) in order to access my UK bank account online. I have used the bank's mobile app so far but some things can't be done that way.
So I need a UK SIM card which doesn't put demands on me to use for making outgoing calls or texts, and any credit doesn't expire. I may use the phone for an occasional call or text but its unlikely.
I've read that all or almost all the mobile providers and piggyback operators have some form of expiry or that they demand usage within a 3-9 month period, or you lose your credit and number.
But it doesn't make sense to me to pay even £5 a month to have a number when I won't be using it to make calls/texts.
I am sure there are other people who are in this position and I am hoping someone on this forum has 1-2 suggestions.
