Hi there, What a fab idea, could i join please? target would be £500
Thank youHi everyone
Can I join in please? I am looking for ways to pay off debt and save a little and generally get a grip financially and want to start a pot
My plan is to run the pot alongside my grocery challenge for the most part. Anything I save after my weekly shop will be used. Notes will go towards paying one of my debts, coins (including £1's) will go in the pot. So I might not save loads, but hopefully it will add up a little bit. Will also pop in any roadkill and couch pennies
Today I have done my grocery shop and have a paltry 30p, but it's better than nothing, so in the pot it goes

Another gold star for your very warm welcomes, Cazzie!
A lovely evening to you Potters! :j I hope everyone had a really lovely weekend and is set to enjoy the good weather for this week where possible.
To all those of you who are just not feeling quite right or who are poorly I do hope that you'll soon get better and here for you are some {{{{hugs}}}} to help xxxx
It's good to see you, mrs-moneypenny, marvellous news about your o/t fund, you are an incredibly busy lady, but by golly it's certainly paying off!!! :j
The lunch with your friend sounds to have given you an extra buzz, Cazzie. It's good to hear from someone you haven't seen for a while that she noticed a real change in you! You're getting there! It's so sweet that she's in touch with you daily to check on you, a true friend for sure. PS. Great news of your latest potted cash!!!
Hi all, a quick update from me ☺
I've opened my £1 coin tin and cashed it in at the bank. £137 in there , so well happy. I paid it into my account then withdrew it in notes and it's sitting with my plastic £5 note stash. I'm not officially declaring it yet , it can sit with the rest until november.
So new pot for shiny new £1 coins on the go and half a dozen in already. Two plastic £5ers added to that stash and shrapnel added to the odd sods tin.
Pleased to see everyone is saving well. Pounds or pence doesn't matter, it's all savings xx
Hi owlet and VERY WELL DONE on your savings so far!!!! :TYou may have already done so, but in case you haven't, please pop the amount saved so far on your siggy. It's highly unlikely you're going to forget it but... Do make sure you keep all your money safe!! Ok then, off you go on saving anew!
Good Heavens above, Inceywincy, that was a stroke of luck in finding such an amount!!! What a roll you were on with the added £5er AND the 5p roadkill as well!!!! What a day you had along with starting on the FPL, with luck and being so very careful things might just be a little on the up for you. Try not to spend too much time worrying about the money problems you have, worry won't help it after all said and done.So providing you're always careful with your money and don't ever waste a penny, in time things will gradually get better and better! Smile through it all, it'll help you through!
So sorry to hear of your disability (there are many of us here with them one way or another) and MH problems, though I must admit it sounds as though you're smiling your way through it all. Your time will come for the occasional cream tea - mine hasn't yet either so don't feel as though it's just you who's missing out - you're not I promise you and I'm still smiling through! :grinheart
It's so good to hear you're still slowly getting more cash potted, MissDM! You did well with your holding pot, much to be proud of.
Hi there Hicksy! What's that you say....your little boy is TWO ALREADY?!!!!! My how fast the time flies! Such a shame about the child care, I hope it all works out well.... and that you can both continue to pot well! Your DS could well be one heck of a saver when he's older! :money:
Little by little is how to fill your pot, Florence; get the debt paid off then concentrate on....saving!!
Hello again Bubbs!! :hello:Many congratulations to you on having lost all that weight!!! You've done so much good to yourself, time now to be immensely proud of yourself!!!!! I bet you feel so very much better now, proud of your achievement too!!
Yes I'm not too bad thanks, I had a fall in March and have a broken finger as well as a ruptured tendon as a result!! Aside from that and an abscess under my tooth I'm fine!
Thanks so much siju, yes it's much better now. I have to go back to the Dentist tomorrow and see where I go from there. Have you been to France yet or was it later in the summer?
Money very well potted btw!
Good deals all round then, jakes-mum! You certainly know where and when to shop, I've got to hand it to you. Fantastic potting for you!!!! Very wise words for any members with debt problems too as we've pretty much all been there! :A
I won't go into Hobbycraft, seekingthesunlight, I've enough to keep me occupied from previous visits!! Excellent savings...
...excellent saving for you also 32b3!!! Do I take it you've had an active and great weekend??!
Enjoy a lovely evening and have a good Wednesday, folks. Keep those pots fed!!!
Sue xx

Evening
£2.50 potted today.
I looked after my nephew on Saturday Sue, and as he gets older he gets more demanding. He is lovely though so I don't mind.
I am really angry about what happened in Manchester last night. All those poor people who went out to have a good time and are not going home. I know there is nothing my anger can achieve, but it's just awful

Evening, potters.
Hope you and your loved ones are all safe and well following last night's terrible events. I share your anger, 32b3, but I try to concentrate on all the good that comes out of these things, and there is so much. Our incredible emergency services and NHS, all the kind people who opened their homes to give refuge to people, even a homeless man who cradled a dying woman in his arms. There are some hateful people amongst us but there are so many more good ones.
Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight, won't you all?
It seems unimportant at a time like this, but having said that, life must go on or those evil people get what they want, so tonight I've popped a fiver in the pot and am looking forward to continuing to build my fund for the future.

Sorry I've not added any updates for a while - added £5 today.
The rest of this post is not about potting, but a little bit about what's been going on in my life.
Last week my son and my ex-husband were admitted to hospital the same day - different ones, which didn't help.
My son had a suspected TIA, but it turned out it was a complication due to his diabetes, he is now back at home and is much better, but has to have an echo cardiogram in July and possible angioplasty after that.
His divorce has just come through and he is days away from finally buying his ex's share of the property - wow, as I wrote that he sent me a facebook message to say he is paying it to the solicitor tomorrow!
My ex was not eating or drinking - he suffers from depression and he also has recently been diagnosed with alzheimers. My youngest daughter does most of the day to day caring, but I've been helping out as and when. I had an appointment with her today at the hospital where we spoke to his consultant as we felt that we were getting different accounts of how he was, what was happening etc from different people.
He is in a general ward and his tests have all come back ok and he is eating and drinking. The consultant we saw says he is not confused as he knows who he is, where he is,etc - however after he was admitted he accused us of putting him in a home, and how much was that costing! He does know now that he is in hospital. As he is medically ok there is talk of him being discharged soon.
However, he has also been seen by the mental health team who have diagnosed delirium.
It was a pity we could not have had a psychiatric consultant at the meeting as well.
sorry for hijacking the threat to talk about this, I just needed to talk.

Sending lots of love to you, Frogletina. As jakes-mum rightly said, we are here to listen and support. That's what I love most about this board - we pot and save for various reasons but we also help each other through this rocky journey we call life. I know the struggles I am currently going through have been eased hugely by the support of my SPC family.
Keep up the potting, potters, and keep up the group love too, because it's awesome xxxHouse Deposit Fund - £30,000 / Fees Fund - £5,000Furniture Fund - £2,500 / White Goods Fund - £2,500 / Flooring Fund - £2,500Emergency Fund - £7,500365 Day Penny Challenge for 2025 - £638.69/£667.95 (Holiday Fund)£2 Savers Club for 2025 - £24/£200 (Christmas Fund)52 Week Card Challenge for 2025 - £267/£400 (Fun Fund)0 -
Evening Potters!
in potting news, nothing as I spent nothing so 50% yay, 50% boo today
Well done jakes-mum for the no spending (50% yay!) I didn't spend anything today but wanted to pot something so went to the trusty ATM that I know dispenses fivers and grabbed victory from those scary claws of defeat so I had some money to pop in the pot this evening. Going to have to resist for the next few days though, don't get paid until Monday and there's very little left so I think I'll be joining you on the 50% yays! xxx
EDIT: Wait a second... Monday is another Bank Holiday, right? This could mean I get paid on Friday. But then we would have another 50% yay, 50% boo situation going on because I have to make it last an extra three days!
