Hello Lovely Tuesday Tightwads,
Busy day so far. Just kicking a post on before I squidge down to the shed with a load of recycled containers which I shall use as seed trays.
*More attempts to sort out registering on bank's new website. 2 phone calls as the 1st person I spoke to gave me a 'one use only password' to break the impasse & to get me registered & naturally, the second after I entered it, the site crashed out! Had to phone again for another one but did eventually manage to get everything properly set up.
*Transferred the majority of my additional PPI settlement (which I wasn't expecting) to our Loan Paydown Fund - updated signature.
*A small cheque I'd been waiting for arrived in the post, which I was pleased about because I don't like to be out of pocket.
*Surveys rubbish today, but did a quick task on the brand forum I'm on at the moment .
*Uploaded energy meter readings to website as they are getting the bills made up imminently. We have a decent amount of credit on our account & haven't really used the heating yet, apart from the lounge fire when my parents were here & 3 uses of the stove in the conservatory. When I know what the bill is, I will aim to leave an amount in there to help with winter bills, then I may well request a refund of the difference. I'll see what the figures look like.
*Laundry on heated airer. Will switch on later to maximise the cheaper tariff. Washer loaded for cheap overnight wash.
*Did a really thorough triage of the fridge & veggie basket. Assigned everything to one of this week's meals or lunches........last of our home grown runner beans blanched & frozen.
*Baked a loaf in BM & froze (will take it with us on holiday.....that'll be bread for 2 or 3 days plus it acts as a giant ice-pack on the way there & keeps other stuff fresh)
*Meal in slow cooker - ditto - it will be our meal on our first night in holiday cottage which will save the 'We've driven all this way, done all this unpacking, so now we can go off to the pub for dinner & spend £50' temptation!
*Baked herby soda bread as had intended to make rolls but ran out of bread flour. No buttermilk so did my usual & added the juice of half a lemon (discovered at back of fridge during Fridge Triage) to 300ml milk for 20 mins & used that. Added some home grown rosemary. Looks nice.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Updated grocery budget.
*Updated November budget - a couple of v small spends from bank account at the weekend & all these have to be noted.
*Knitted 2cms of Christmas present sock. 2cms?? Could do better!
*Nobble mr f when he gets home tonight & write food list for holiday. We have plenty of stuff in & I'm thinking we shouldn't need to buy too much.
*Also while mr f is nobbled, have a look at our 'My Waitrose' offers. There are new ones now. Our original choices aren't really working for us because I chose nearly all coffee (perhaps I was in dire need of caffiene when I was doing it?) & mr f can't remember a single product he chose. Our main shop is Aldi, but we do use Waitrose for certain items we can't get there, so it makes sense to try & maximise our offers......though we do really well on free coffees!
*Update Christmas Present List, as we did buy a few things at the weekend.
*Use-it-up: Trying to finish some nasty herbal teabags. A dear friend bought them for me so am making an extra special effort....................but ewwwwwwww.....they are grim!!
*As fellow frugalistas, you will like tonight's food creation - Spicy lamb & veggie rice (rice cooked in l/o chicken stock). veggies all the stuff in fridge which needed using up, lamb is 100g l/o lamb mince which got chucked in the freezer when we only needed 400g for a recipe but it was in 500g packs, topped with a portion of chip shop-style curry sauce which I batch-cooked last month to to use up some of our apple glut.
OK, enough of me,
Hope you have all had a productive day,

Weird I just checked my bank balance and oh's work has paid me £29.75. I haven't done any work for them so not sure why?!
That'll do. Have a great day x
Perhaps they owed you this amount from when you did do some work for them DNMS
Don't seem to have done anything today except walk the dog (free exercise) and work on my business
Still, I haven't spent anything either
Post office loaded with parcels!
Used free large letter stamps from RM surveys to post some small bits (sewing patterns, old postcards etc)
Popped into sales unit and was pleased to see that some bits had sold - must restock when I get a minute!
Listed some more things on ebay
Sorted out some bits for sales unit
Paperwork / accounts
Tidied up dining room after marathon packaging session
A couple of surveys for onepoll, got screened out by Ipsos as usual
RM surveys tasks
Had a free sandwich for lunch, that neighbour gave OH yesterday (they have a catering business, and this was obviously left over from their round). It wasn't very nice, so I was very glad I didn't pay the price on the label for it (as if! :rotfl:)! Made up for meh sandwich by having a slice of cake as well
Fish from freezer for dinner tonight
Must do a freezer inventory tonight, as I am running out of ideas and don't know what is in there (a lot!!)
Hope everyone is having a good day0 -

I freely confess to using my nasty herbal tea bags to make 'your' cat deterrent recipe for my front garden0 -
Popping out of lurkdom for just a minute - pumpkins.....
Our local Mr Sainsbug is selling their pumpkins off for 10p each - I bought one today & will go back for another couple tomorrow to portion & freeze for soup. Might be worth a pop by if you have one local to you

Today's small things
* use up breakfast - had scrambled egg with some mushrooms that were on the turn and some spinach
* Went to the gym class to make the most of my membership
* Spent ages going through my spreadsheets and moving money around and coming up with a plan of attack as I want to shave £200 off planned expenses (as I want that £200 to get a few bits finished from our kitchen refurb)
* Cleaned the kitchen using stardrops
* Dad gave me a pumpkin he was given free at some gardens they went to yesterday
Still to do
* Pack snacks to take to the kids swimming lessons as they're always starving after schoolApples
* Make tomorrows lunches done and kids helped
* Prep our tea done, chicken with garlic mushrooms, peas and jacket potato
* Put washing away from the airer
* Take a freezer inventory - this is the plan of attack re this months budget - I need to shave about £200 off our overall planned spends and hoping that the freezer & storecupboard will provide the solution!List done, we have lots of food in, so can definitely shave some off the grocery budget
That's about it for now. Have a good day all.
Been quite a good day, I can see where I've been but it also highlights how much I still need to do
Other small things done
* The meal for the kids ended up being padded out with extra veggies and a potato to feed my niece as well.
* Used up a banana that everyone kept leaving in the fruit bowl with some milk, spinach and a couple of teaspoons of options hot chocolate powder, kids shared this as a dessert
* Reorganised the freezer whilst doing the list so that I can find everything easily
* No heating on, blankets being used instead.
Right I think thats it, hoping for a good nights sleep as I've been grumpy today!
.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all :hello: nice to *see* you pixiechick
My Wednesday :
Check banking, moved interest from high interest account to isa.
Check surveys and FPL
Left over chilli to work for lunch
Take some t bags too, I only buy a hot drink about once a fortnight at work but I've been fancying it more lately, so I'll make my own if I do. I'll happily drink it black so no need to worry about milk
Quick shower, hair dry naturally
Try and research couple of extra presents for Christmas so I only have home made chocolate slabs/spoons to make in December and wrapping to do
Strores for dinner
DH may have overtime tonight or tomorrow which would be handy
Look for a paper bag to ripen my tomatoes in or look for green tomato recipe that only needs a relatively small quantity
Right must get on, have a good day folks0 -
Morning everyone
Oooh Pixie - hello there  Nice to see you.
Bob - I have an oyster card I bought years ago - I tried to do the refund thing online but it's so old I have to call and I've never bothered with the hassle. I could post it to you - I don't know what is on it (maybe £10 minus 1 journey) or whether it will even work but if you send me your address I'll send it onto you. xxx
Need to get a move on this morning... Catch up soon!0
