I usually ask my BIL what sort of things they are in to or give a few ideas. It takes the stress out of it for me knowing what to look out for on eBay and Facebook over the next few weeks. Already got my eye on some Lego friends. Totally agree giving cash does take the fun out of it.
No such luck unfortunately - tried that one year as that's what I always do with my sis, but instead of ideas she sent me links to 3 specific things on amazon and said 'buy one of these but tell me which one so I can get the other two'!!!

Morning lp :) just drinking a coffee and surfing while madam watches morning TV. Will cracking on soon not to waste the time she is self entertained! Not sure what my plans are but low key today as I fancy an easy day.

I need to put a load of washing on. Is there any point in putting on the line still? Washing I did on Sunday still needed a night and 1/2 a day on the dryer....

Need to clean 1/2 the house (will do the other half tomorrow.... ) we have family coming to stay on Thursday for a few days so be good to get to Thursday without feeling stressed about the house!

I want to spend an hour tidying up the front garden

Think will take madam for a walk this afternoon

All meals from stores -making kidney bean and peanut butter burgers for dinner. Also going to make a batch of ratatouille to use up baby aubergines, will use celery & courgette in freezer

Freezing 1/2 brownies. Man I am sick of sweet things! Very rare occurrence for me!

Roll out 2nd pizza base and freeze. Also freeze 1/2 sauce topping for another day. Am pleased to say after 40 years I can now say I know how to make bread products! Have always steered away as didn't really know how to knead. Still don't think I know how to do it properly but my bread products are turning out good anyway :)

Weird I just checked my bank balance and oh's work has paid me £29.75. I haven't done any work for them so not sure why?!
    That'll do. Have a great day x

Sounds frustrating PF - hope they sort it out.

I've still not sorted YNAB so although we are in November I actually have no idea where we stand with it all... Eek, might need to be tonight's job as need to get a move on this morning....

Ended up walking home last night as there was a signalling problem on the line. Decided replacement bus service wasn't for me - free commute, free exercise and was actually a nice walk looking at all the pumpkins etc.

Not really got a lot going on - just the usual cheapo porridge brekkie, dinner from stores, and more of the usual around the house tonight...

I'm going out for lunch today so that will be about £10 - pal's 40th - little mid week treat :D

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Hello, Everyone. It's a beautiful and cold November morning.

This morning a trip to ALDI. A week's shopping for £22.25 - that includes all the ingredients for a massive curry, which I'm making tonight; lunches are going to be extremely tasty for the rest of this week.

It's amazing the different in price with ALDI even with somewhere like ASDA: last night we popped into ASDA for a few things. £25 for about 5 items!

    Homemade soup again this morning.

  • I've never got eating soup in the morning lambada, although I know lots of people do. I have lots of rules I live by and certain foods for certain meals feature heavily! :o

Haha! :) Sorry, I meant "homemade soup for lunch today"

Not sure why I said morning there... :/

Afternoon all, Sounds like everyones being very productive today!

    Today's small things
    * use up breakfast - had scrambled egg with some mushrooms that were on the turn and some spinach
    * Went to the gym class to make the most of my membership
    * Spent ages going through my spreadsheets and moving money around and coming up with a plan of attack as I want to shave £200 off planned expenses (as I want that £200 to get a few bits finished from our kitchen refurb)
    * Cleaned the kitchen using stardrops
    * Dad gave me a pumpkin he was given free at some gardens they went to yesterday :)

    Still to do
    * Pack snacks to take to the kids swimming lessons as they're always starving after school :)Apples
    * Make tomorrows lunches done and kids helped :)
    * Prep our tea done, chicken with garlic mushrooms, peas and jacket potato :)
    * Put washing away from the airer :)
    * Take a freezer inventory - this is the plan of attack re this months budget - I need to shave about £200 off our overall planned spends and hoping that the freezer & storecupboard will provide the solution! :) List done, we have lots of food in, so can definitely shave some off the grocery budget

That's about it for now. Have a good day all.

Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • A tip for you guys re what to do with your carved pumpkin. Bury it whole in your garden in borders/veg patch. Give the worms a treat and feed the soil for next year :)
