I'm envious of your holiday to Jamaica Denise, I went to Barbados about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it, I really want to return to the Caribbean and Jamaica is top of my list. Have a fantastic time.

Welcome back gfb, 2.5lb isn't a bad gain for this time of year, although you obviously didn't have the calorie overload you'd normally have, being ill. What terrible timing, hope you're recovered now.

    Have a good day everyone.

    LL :)

I'd love to go back to the Caribbean too. Very envious denise. A friend of mine if off for 3 weeks in St Lucia in January. I think I'll have to fix up a break of some sort but it won't be as exotic as that.

You've done really well to stay so close to plan gfb. It'll be good to have you posting more next year. Sorry to hear about all the upsets (both family and stomach).

Yesterday I made a pot of lentil soup as I'd been good (thinking of all of you:)) and kept the stock from the Christmas Eve gammon. I'll have some for lunch and portion the rest for the freezer. We have football tonight but I'm going to take a Satsuma to have with my coffee. If I have any syns it'll be wine ones;).

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage with HEA milk
L: small salad, lentil and veg soup
D: baked haddock, SW chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, green stuff (broccoli, peas?).
    Syns: tbc

Having never been to the Caribbean before I'm really looking forward to Jamaica! Just hope I'm feeling better by then. Started with a sore throat on Christmas Day followed by a cough and runny nose by last night. Unfortunately has gone to my chest so now have a chest infection and can't get a Dr appointment until Friday morning. Luckily as I suffer from COPD I have an emergency course of anitbiotics so have started on them today and just hope that the Dr I'm seeing Friday will give me a replacement - different doctors in the practice have different ideas as to whether having emergency antibiotics are worth giving out! I certainly think it's worth it.

    Back on plan properly today.

B - porridge made with water, mixed frozen fruit
    L - LO turkey curry
D - S&S pork, egg fried rice cooked with Frylight

    HEA - milk
    HEB - porridge
    Syns - TBA

Have just done my meal plan from tomorrow until we go on holiday so will be using up some of the stuff from the freezer. Hoping to be able to empty and defrost my outside freezer and just have the fridge/ freezer on whilst away.

  • Hi everyone. It's all gone a bit pear shaped on the food front but the festivities are nearly over now.
I didn't go to class today so I'll need to be an STS.
Denise, I've been to Jamaica twice and love it. Whereabouts are you staying?

Off to our neighbours for a get together and faith supper. I've made a curry (to try to stay on plan) but I know the other offerings will be high Syn beige food.
Got 20+ on New Year's Eve. Any suggestions for feeding them? I usually do chilli or pulled pork for a crowd but I'm fed up of that and since I've done a curry tonight then I don't want to do that either.

I've done lasagne or beef in red wine for those sort of numbers and more. The beef casserole could be more SW friendly or you could make goulash or similar. I cook new potatoes in advance and just ping them when needed. Carrots, mushrooms and onions in the casserole.

You could do some sort of pasta bake (less synful than lasagne) and just have salads to go with it. I've also put French sticks on the side (but you don't have to eat them;)).

I'm sure there will be others along with ideas soon:).

MM We're staying at Montego Bay, on an all inclusive resort - definitely expecting a big gain on return! Along will a gain this week after Christmas, although hopefully not too big today as was completely on plan yesterday and mainly on plan Tuesday! Hoping to stay completely on plan this coming week and back in target before my final WI next week.

Also, as Maman suggests a beef casserole is easy to do for large numbers and you can keep it SW friendly at the same time by not adding the red wine suggested by Maman and using Red Wine stockpots from Tesco's! which gives a flavour of wine without the syns.

    Today's plan:

B - after WI - need to pop into Tesco on the way to group and grab something to eat, probably some prepped fruit that's easy to eat
L - Sweet potato jacket with beans; side salad
D - Low fat butchers sausages, mash, veg & syn free onion gravy (1 syn for 2 sausages)

    HEA - milk
HEB - No idea at the moment but I'll think of something!
Syns - sausages 1; not sure what else yet

Back after WI with the damage!

  • Thanks Denise and maman for your supper suggestions. I think the stew with French bread is a great idea and I might do some jacket spuds and serve in halves.
Denise., we stayed in MB once all the hotels are excellent and you will gain! Nice and near airport too. Last time, we stayed in Negril - recommend a trip to see 7 mile beach and the sunset. Also Ocho Rios and the river falls. Try going up - even if you don't think you can - everyone helps each other and it is much easier than you think when you stand at the bottom and look up. I'm very envious :D. If you really want to gain then you could order a mudslide from the bar mmmmmmmmm. Have a wonderful time!
