That was a blast from the past, fond memories of Weezl and her boiling the pigs head when she was suffering from morning sickness. I was about on OS at the time too with my main account but not directly involved in the project, I still use some of the recipes. I can remember Poohbear test running the first menu on her family when it was under development and some occasionally rather heated debates about nutrition and spending.

I have a compulsive urge to search down the back of the sofa to find some loose change to buy a pack of lard with. Plenty of splendidly nutritious nettles in my garden :o

    Good Afternoon,

I would just like to announce, that I am a woman in possession of some Strachan's ice-cream (Scottish produce :D). I went for 'traditional', as I'm teaming it with HG (not by me) raspberries, but I noted that chocolate :smileyhea and raspberry ripple flavours are also available :D

I shall see y'all the other side of the pizza, wedges, pasta, ice-cream and raspberries ;) I just want to see good play, good sportsmanship and ultimately, a fantastic game of footy.

Ta for popping in, and reminiscing - there are, and always have been, fantastic people on MSE, and I'm glad I found y'all and get to hang out here, once in a while.

    Good Morning :hello:

End of the week already - where does the time fly?

Tea last night was 'Greek Style casserole', which I can no longer find the link for :( It was originally from a site run by a couple that were possibly frontrunners in the podcast/own internet show business. They were american I think (or possibly Canadian, but I think American), and specialised in veggie tucker. Anyway, it used up lots of bits and bobs that I have - including some pasta from a bag of orzo that is 'out of date' in July 2018, but at least I have made a start at using it now. It also used up the half bag of spinach that I had left, languishing in the freezer, and the remainder of the feta-style cheese from the fridge.

I need to give some thought to what we might might have for tea tonight, as obviously we have had pizza once, already this week.......

I have dropped lucky in the chazzers for bits and bobs for BG lately. Although I had an interesting conversation with a gentle-man in one of the shops yesterday about the vagaries of sizing....... But as it happens, an item that was too young (age wise) and from a supermercado that I've always found 'fits small', fitted BG beautifully, so I'm glad that I went to the hassle of trying it on BG in the shop changing-room, and was delighted to hand over my £1.50, as it was just what I had envisaged to complete their 'ensemble' for a little 'do' that they will be attending. Total cost of outfit, £3 :j

Oh, I forgot to mention that I dropped on some YS'd sweet potatoes in mrA the other day - 65p for 1kg. A 24p saving on what I'd usually pay in HB. I got some more mushies from m&$ yesterday, YS'd to 65p for 300g.

Right, don't think I've owt else on a MSing vibe to witter on about, so best vamoose.

    Ta for popping in.

Kids clothing sizes are as bad as adults in the sense that they can vary so much and often are designed to fit a certain 'body type' I have found chazzer stuff from 5ainzburys and n3xt are quite generous. My little one is on the tall size but we are often in the next size up or down depending on the store. B00ts are v good quality and lovely but I find they come up very small

Using up bits and bobs is so satisfying - nothing worse than seeing one of this and a spoon of that languishing in the fridge & store-cupboard!

I'm firmly convinced that this is why my grandma never made the same soup twice! She had such a knack for using up the bits in a way that made them taste amazing!

    Good Evening :hello:

Smurphington - I agree, I think all clothes designers must be 6' 6" skinny-minies and think all humankind is built that way........

rtandon - The trouble is, if you 'nail' a flavour, using 'bitsabobs' - you can never recreate that flavour! :rotfl:

Well, we've had a funny auld day. We went round and about to see how far it was, and it was just far enough :D we deposited some coinage in BG's bank account. Unfortunately, the cashier on today was less than....... 'involving' - they are perfectly professional, and completed the deposit perfectly correctly, they just..... lack a little of the 'human' factor that their colleagues generally display in adundance. Ah, well. we'll just have to keep saving our pennies and show BG that good money management is a skill to be learnt, just like walking and talking :D

we dropped on some quinoa rice 'milk' for '3 for a pand' in h3r0n, so we got some :D We also got some spinach and ricotta tortellini, '2 for a pand' so we got £2 worth :D They are now in the freezer, for those CBA'd days...... that we all get ;)

The quinoa 'milk' is OK - made a raspberry/nar-nar/macha powder smoothie for lunch - perfectly lush :D

Tiredness caught up with me and I had difficulty keeping my eyes open this arvo. BG, naturally was full of beans...... they fell asleep just as I got my second wind, and was *ping* wide-awake......... Think I'll have an early night tonight.

Tea this evening was heavily influenced/inspired by THIS dish. It made use of one of the punnets of YS'd mushrooms I bought; used a pack of 'ambient' gnocchi that I had (mrA - 60p??), and a ball of mozarella from h3r0n - '3 for a pand'. I made my tomato sauce much more complicated, by incorporating red and white onions, red peppers, carrots and passata, but I made enough to freeze a portion for another dish too. I didn't use sage, but went down the basil/oregano/parsley route - all dried. I served it with steamed green beans (wild rocket or a leaf salad would have been good), and would certainly make it again - DELISH! It would be a good dish for entertaining too :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    • friends who say 'I'll check the local selling pages for you' on hearing that we need something :D
    • a friend's project hasn't been ruined by the change in the weather
    • another 'new' recipe to add to the index :D

    Good Morning :hello:

Mmmm, I fell asleep on the floor in BG's room last night, as they were still up and chatting past 9pm. I must have been in the deepest part of my sleep, and DH decided, in his wisdom, to wake me up....... to come to bed.......

I don't feel like I have had any sleep at all :(

Anyhoo, new day and all that.

I've some batch cooking to do today, to use up a punnet of YS'd mushies and to make some curries for tea, so that I can watch the footy this arvo.

Can't think of owt stunningly interesting on a :money:vibe to chat about, so best vamoose.
