  • Slightly off topic, but I presume that post-Brexit this state of affairs will not continue and we will be better able to recruit British doctors and paramedics.

I would guess we struggle to recruit British paramedics because the salary is so insultingly low. Might suit a young Aussie or Pole wanting to live cheaply and cheerfully in a houseshare for a few years, but very difficult to get a mortgage on a family home on that kind of income in London.

I haven't read the whole thread but I'd be very concerned about the tantrums and sleeping in separate rooms out of temper and not getting her own way. A very bad way to start a marriage or conduct a relationship.
Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".

That's not it. I'nm sure there are plenty of out of work Brits who would jump at the chance to train as a paramedic. We just can't be bothered to train up British people who would like to be paramedics.

We have a very short sighted government who think why bother to invest in our own people when there are plenty of already trained people from places like Poland willing to come over here and work instead.

Some British friends of mine are training to be paramedics, so there is training available.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

The opportunities are there for any qualified applicant who chooses to apply.

I know someone who is trying to get on a university course to be a paramedic, it seems to be very competitive but there are definitely courses available.

It is very very competitive, only a small number of paramedics qualify each year, but this is because there is limited funding available for training places. Ambulance trusts go abroad to recruit already qualified paramedics that they don't have to pay to train to fill the gaps.

Congratulations on your future marriage. I! m sure that once the drama of the current emotions have settled down you will both get back to a normal settled routine together. Just remember to be there for each other during the difficult times.
