Motorists, what to do about cyclists who constantly break the high way code???

I think we'll both continue to disagree on what we precisely we see in three seconds of video, but as to the "victim blaming mentality" of the ad, I'm going to leave you with one thought.
Yes, it is such a badly made advert that it is a case of "you see what you want" I can see a lorry slowing for a turn, indicating late and making the turn, as I see cars, lorries & buses doing every day.
It isn't about blaming the victim, it is about minimising risk**.
An attitude I pick up from some posters is "As long as I am doing the correct/legal/highway code thing I will be fine, as everyone else has to do this too" fact is, a lot of them don't.
Yes drivers should be educated into observing properly, and cyclists educated into being seen- maybe the theory test could include elements of the science of seeing and being seen, like the article by that fighter pilot posted earlier, and it could be simplified and put into "Bikeability".
You don't have to hang back at junctions, just be wary, make sure you have been seen and you know what the other driver is doing before you commit yourself to death.
**Like if I flaunt my Rolex oyster whilst talking on my Iphone 7 in the middle of town and I get mugged, it isn't my fault, but I certainly set the scene for it to happen. I have every right to flaunt the Rolex, but it is a risky thing to do in certain places.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Most of it seems like
"Cyclist takes on lorry driver in willy waving contest, when all he has to wave is a 15kg bike, versus a 10 tonne truck."
It is what happens when you try to wave your willy at someone who is a bigger ars####e than you are.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Hopefully what happened is that the driver ended up with his ars####e being reamed by his manager for being an aggressive t### ...and, re the mobile usage referred to at the end, a nice little collection of points on his license.0 -

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you posted the wrong link by accident, rather than you can't tell your left from your right, anyway this one better fits the bill.

Par for the course for that go!!!!! (I think that is the correct local expression) David Brennan AKA Magnatom. Have a look at some of his other videos and you'll get the idea.0 -

"Camera on your head" people tend to fall into two camps - those that have a wish to promote their agenda and those that have had enough nasty experiences to want to have a record of the next. I take it from your comments (not really wanting to sit through a load of wobbly videos) this guy tends to the former.
Having said that, right up to the point of confrontation, it's hard to point out anything he did wrong, and in pulling over to allow traffic past at the beginning, a reasonable show of consideration.
And there's part of me that says confrontation is something to be avoided, another part says bad behaviour should be challenged.0 -
I did wonder if he was in the lorry driver's blindspot at first, but it does look like the lorry deliberately shut him out during the initial confrontation.
He should have not risen to the bait (which does tend to wind up ars####s even more) then simply sent the video to "I'm a snitch dot com"/the Police with a complaint/the lorry owners depending on how angry he feels.
Alternatively, he could have jumped up and pulled the lorry driver from his cab then set about him.
Provoking someone driving several tonnes of non-crumple zone metal when you are riding a bike is likely to end in tears, whether you have the legal/moral high-ground or not.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The subject was that cyclists shouldn't pass on the left, ie they should pass on the right, but in that link the cyclist does exactly that and ends up with a load of abuse from the brainless moron in the truck.
The point really is that yet again, cyclist cannot do right, whether they follow the highway code, or follow published best practice, or simply do whatever they want.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

In the interests of balance - on my walk from office to station yesterday between 1730 and 1800 I observed all of the following...
* White van running through traffic lights on amber - followed by 6 (SIX) cyclists. The first 2 of these cleared the junction before the green man; the latter 4 rode through pedestrians.
* Cyclist braking and jumping on to the pavement as foreign registered coach overtook and then started to turn left across him.
* Cyclist in high-viz jacket making a clear signal before a right-turn and then stopping at zebra crossing. (I mention this because at this particular crossing outside the British Museum, some cyclists use the stopped traffic as an opportunity to make the corner and dive over the zebra at speed.)
* Same cyclist stopping at the next crossing and waving on the waiting pedestrian (me) followed by me dodging cyclist in the opposite direction blundering through crossing while texting... followed by first cyclist shrugging his shoulders.
* At least five pedestrians sprinting into the road as soon as last motor vehicle as passed (before green man appeared) and cyclist having to brake and swing around them.
That's quite typical for Central London in rush-hour - good and bad in all forms of road user.I need to think of something new here...0 -

Most definitely!
It's a herd mentality, whatever transport someone is using, they generally side with others of the same. It's not just cars v truck v cyclist v pedestrian though, it's far more complicated, right down to the type/brand of car you drive.
It's interesting that when you step out of your car, go to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing and almost get run over, in the space of 60 seconds you've gone from a fellow driver to a peasant pedestrian with no right to be on the road at all.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Exactly - remember having a debate on a local forum board a long time ago with someone complaining about the pelican crossings in the High Street being too many and too frequently operating. Seemed to go right over their head that five minutes after being stopped in their car by a red light on a pelican crossing they were the people pressing the button to stop the road traffic.0
