• As a massage therapist, I can confirm what somebody said above, which explains why there are so many disappointed and unpampered Nectar card holders. Nectar sets up these treats and promises free treatments, but it's a freebie for Nectar as well as for the customer.
if a therapist agrees to be part of the promotion, he/she is offering to work for nothing. The lure is that clients may re-book, but experience shows that very few do. So established therapists are very reluctant to get involved - and work for nothing, Well, why should they?
So that's why there is a shortage.

I got mine ages ago, when they first came out. I picked a pampering treat & got an email back quickly.
However I couldn't open (download) it, some sort of glitch.
So I rang them on their VERY EXPENSIVE number to be told "sorry they would send it again", they didn't.
I wasn't going to keeping ringing on the con/cash phoneline. The lady on the phone couldn't tell me which "gift" I had been awarded, I figured its probably the day out that no-one wants anyway.

Edit, I though I would try & open it again. This time it worked.
Its a gym pass to a gym miles away. Any of the gyms around me would give me a free day trial & it wouldn't cost me so much in petrol.

The 0845 number for the nectar free treats team actually costs 4p a minute.
Do any of you check your facts before throwing your toys out of your pram?

Well think of it like buying a DVD on buy one get one FREE and when you get to the till one of the DVD's is substituted for a plastic duck.

Or you could think of it as somebody sending you a thank you card and you having a tantrum because it's the wrong colour.
• Received my free treat leaflet this morning but not sure whether to bother or not. I could use some pampering but not interested in a Day Out (too many Tesco clubcard vouchers to use up first.:rotfl:)

I understand the sentiment that we shouldn't be complaining as something is free. If Nectar had just sent me a voucher for a gym pass or a day out or even a clay pigeon shoot, I would have probably thought - "that's nice" and put it in the bin or passed it on. If they had sent me a back massage/facial/head massage/manicure/etc voucher, I would have thought "Wow, fantastic" and they'd have got loads of brownie points.

However, they have given us a choice so if we don't get something vaguely matching our selection, then we are going to be upset and they are going to get a lot of hard feeling. They don't seem to be even offering something from the same category.

It might be free but as it is being billed as a treat and nobody seems to be getting thier idea of a treat, it sucks....

To apply or not to apply, that is the question!

You are bad mouthing a free treat scheme that you haven't actually participated in???

Your diary must be very full.
• Its is a local rate number. If you don't want to call them you can email.

THE TREAT IS FREE!!!!

You don't pay for it! It hasn't cost you anything!!!!

The point is, theyve offered you something good and given you something !!!!. If the offer was crap to start with, noone would be complaining, and nooe would be applying for them. Theyve shot themselves in the foot with this bady executed promotion.

I just booked the free family portrait :T , even better the photographer is local. Thanks.
• I tried getting my free treat and phoned this week. They had run out of availabilty and I was advised to phone back on a saturday as that was when the availability was renewed. I phoned back and got my first choice of a facial 3 miles away.
I'd recommend phoning on a saturday as then you will know for sure what is and isn't available.
Also, considering the way the therapist describes how she was recruited to the promotion, I can understand a)why they only give out a certain amount each week and b) why there may or may not be many available in your area.
I think it's unfair for people to complain about the distance that they are asked to travel as it differs to each person. I'm sure some people in the country would be willing to travel a fair way for something like paintballing whereas people in london would probably expect it to be on their doorstep. They can't recruit salons according to whether you have access to transport or not.
i can't believe people are actually complaining that the treat is only for one person! Not only do we want one free treat(which according to one lady on here, saved her 18 pound) but now we feel injustice to the fact that we can't have 2!!This is incredible!I personally wouldn't want to chat to my friend whilst trying to relax with a facial and I don't know of anyone who goes for manicures in a duet.
There's no such thing as a free lunch as you all seem to know so well on here, but all it will cost you is approx 8p for the 2 min call,(make it on a saturday as I think that's when they get their new allocations in) your time and your choice. If you are unwilling to make this much effort, then do not bother claiming the free treat. I think a lot of people have forgotten that the they are not the epicentre of the world and that nectar can't tailor a treat unique to every single one of its customers and if this is what you are expecting than that is quite frankly foolish. Obviously lots of other people have been satisfied otherwise this promotion would have been pulled a long long time ago and received much more coverage.

Yes, I;'ve just received my treat too! (It actually took only 2 hours to come through). I requested a pedicure or a facial - and yes, I received a voucher for a fitness centre! If you go online to any fitness centre in this area you can download a free visit voucher - so where is the treat in that? I guessed, before reading this forum, that anyone requesting an adventure 'treat' would receive a voucher for a day out - no surprise there, then. I think that Sainsbury's, being so closely linked with Nectar, should be very worried about this scam. Do they really think the British public are that gullible - that we don't talk to each other - that they won't be found out? Wrong - thank goodness for forums like this!

I've just tried to claim my free nectar treat and it tells me my nectar card number is wrong - IT's NOT!
