Mrs-Mix - WOW that cake is really good :T :T have you done this before or is this first attempt?

taplady - sorry i might have missed your answer re: my beans.

Anyway Ive had a go, put them in boiling water for 2 mins then into ice water, dried them off and put them in a bag and chucked in freezer. Hope ive done it ok, time will tell when i get them out again to eat:rotfl:

The blanching's abit confusing as it says put in boiling water for 2 mins, but as soon as you chuck em in it goes off boil - so does that mean i bring to boil again and then time it or time it as soon as it goes straight in? and how long do they stay in the cold water?

Its all abit of a palarva - alot to be said for buying them ready frozen:D
    but Ive had a go!!

Just went to Lidl's for the 40% reduced meat/poultry - Fridges had been stripped bare!!  All I managed to get was 2 packs of 400g lean mince £1.12 ea. Might try again later in the week if they stock up again:rotfl:

Not long before I go back on school run and then off to swimming lessons.

thanks for those who pm'd me:D

Please don't go - I have a memory like a sieve and never know who has asked what- don't think you were being ignored deliberately by anyone.

    JackieO

    Good luck with today.

I agree with you about Stephen King - I treated myself to Lisey's story as a Christmas present and when DD asked what it was like I could only compare it to being in a high fever where nothing was real. It felt somehow "empty!"

have been to Lidl this morning and got 12 cartons (1 litre) of long life skimmed milk at around 34 pence each.

Need to start making my own bread and rolls again and going to a farm shop for a huge sack of potatoes, onions and carrots.

Still waiting to exchange contracts on my dad's flat - have not heard from the person who was "seriously interested" in our house and have lost the house we wanted.

Going to make sausage and mash for tea unless I get overruled by Dds.

Forgot to say - Lidl have bratwurst and speciality sausages and bacon down to £1 a pack rather than £1.69, £1.49 etc.

Greetings my OS friends! How does today find you? It's another lovely one here. Chilly, but nice.

Mrs_Mix- Wow I am seriously impressed

PenPin and Nelski - sorry for your losses.

    Shez - don't go.

Happy birthday ( a little late) Gingham Ribbon.

Not a lot going on here. Kitchen is in pieces and will be for the forseeable future - so only basic cookery for me.

Trying to clean the house. Nothing like mother turning up tomorrow to motivate me into cleaning all the little nooks and crannies. (Specially since plaster dust gets everywhere)

Mum's coming to look after the brats for the week (MIL who normally takes them is on holiday) so I have to pretend to be organised and act as if I always know what's for dinner and that all the housework is done. Pretend I can OS basically. Hmm. Let's see how long it takes for her to wind me up. I predict 1/2 an hour.:rotfl:

Well take care all - hugs to any of you in need. And have a delicious day my chums.

To be honest Shez, I did not see your original enquiry, I never blanch beans, just cut them, open freeze them on a tray for about half an hour and then tip them into a bag. I cook them for about 20 minutes in the steamer, they come out ok.......
