Caribbean Black Cake uses dried fruit that has been soaking in rum for up to a year so I wouldnt worry at all if it smells OK

I would probably use it too if it looks, smells & tastes ok. I've just put mine to soak today :D
  • I would cook it and as long as it smells and tastes ok I would eat it. I have eaten things weeks out of date and touch wood never been sick.

  • without sounding obvious, you could make extra sauce and use it then. Or add a bit of pesto to it for a meal. Or use as noodles for a stirfry? I've frozen cooked pasta before so spagetti should be ok to freeze too.

I normally just heat it the pasta up next day with some tomato / basil sauce and sometimes meatballs or chicken.

It will be fine for a couple of days in the fridge.

  • or you could turn it into a minestrone soup with some leftover veg that you might also have lying around. put the spaghetti towards the end as it'll only need to be reheated thru'.
  • I usually have it left-over with pesto for lunch the next day but found some good ideas here:
