Not just a reference, full guarantor, they need to sign to say if we didn't pay the rent then they would. That's us basically asking someone else to sign for £6250 for us (10 months rent as 2 are up front) It's been hard enough asking his Dad, sort of embarrassing really, but looks like he can't & his Mam works abroad, my parents don't work full time. Oh well, we'll find something somewhere else eventually if this doesn't come off I suppose, should know by tomorrow either way.
Lil_me dont be so hard on yourself. I know as a student i had to get a guarantor as they didn't trust us  but as far as i see it its so they have peace of mind. They never checked whether our guarantor (my parents) had any money to pay the rent, we just handed over their bank details. Its not like your going to run off and never pay the landlady any rent. You have good control of your finances and know your budget. I would ask to speak to the owner of the house direct and explain the situation. The agency wont give you their number but ask them to pass on your phone number and ask them to call you. They probably wont do it (didnt with us as agency was a load of carp!) so i sat there and demanded they made the call and handed me over the phone to speak to him. It was the only way to get things done as agencies are never flexible.
My fingers, toes and all other possible things are crossed for you.0 -
Aimee this estate agents goes further with guarantor, a guarantor would need to provide proof of income, residency, photo ID etc etc, hence why it's that bit more awkward even asking them
Will try what you said with getting in touch with landlady however, they refused to give me her contact details the other day but might be worth a try seeing if she'll call us.
Right time to go get this assignment dropped off, DP has wound me up as he's gone out and took the car that is cheaper to run with him, after I put petrol in it last night! One day I might be more organised...........

Ooh I had a laugh today.. I was walking to school with Tiddles in the buggy and was crossing on the zebra and there was a car stopped for me.. the guy driving practically had his tongue out.. his mrs looked at him, looked at me, looked back at him and slapped him right round the head.. PMSL.. I just burst out laughing and carried on walking!!.. Window shopping is one thing.. but so obvious with the mrs sitting next to you is pretty dangerous!! lol.
Hubby sent off to post office with 3 bags of ebay parcels to post .. 7 items to go but none are paid for yet.
Spag bol for dinner I think.. can't be bothered with faffing about in the kitchen half the night.
Oh I have the buggy to clean as well.. Tiddles piddled in it on the way back from school!!! I wouldn't mind but she had just been to loo!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Hello all.
No flying done as yet, will do that after we've eaten tonight, honest!
DH took ours and DS's duvet to the launderette today so they are nice and clean.
Went to Poundland and Disney shop after work on way to Asda and got a couple of stocking fillers for DS that need to be squirreled away, but only after I've written them down in my notebook otherwise I'll forget I bought them. :rotfl:
julie- sorry to hear about the shoe incident, not a good way to start the way.
Frankie- how are the windows looking?
lovely-cup, russet, nicifer and KatieT- hi and welcome, it's great here. :T
sproggi- hope you get those piggies soon and we get to see some pics
sexymouse- did you have a nice lunch out with your friend?
pigpen- you sounds like you've got a grip on your finances, hope it all works out
lil_me- congrats on getting the assignment done, sending good luck vibes for the house.
Right on with the tea....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Afternoon everyone,
Well my windows are done and they look fab. I've done nothing today, well, except for taking all the stuff out of my bedroom drawers to sort, then the window guys turned up and I didn't get to sort through it.
I've just put it all back in the draers unsorted....how soul destroying is that??
Oh well gives me something to do next week , I suppose.
So I've quickly dusted my room and hoovered. Also hoovered the landing and the kitchen, then the hoover conked out. Probably has a blockage, so I'll sort that out after dinner.
DH back tonight....thats gonna be messy in itself, hopefully I can keep on track.
I'll be back at it tomorrow.
Hope you guys have had ok days, try not to let the rough stuff get you down.0 -
