  • Hi, I've been reading this post for what seems like weeks now, and I was so sure that today the council would see sense and give MOT a yes verdict.
I'm in absolute shock that it has gone the other way, and if you need anything MOT, please let me know.
I'll gladly contribute to any appeal set up if you let me know the details

While registered charities can get away with using paypal for donations, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something_Awful#Hurricane_Katrina_charity for reasons to be cautios in this kind of situation (even though, nice as we are, I fear $27,000 may be out of our reach)
  • I'm so utterly disgusted at the treatment you have received MoT. I may not be able to help much but I will help where I can!

I am a little choked up at the reaction and generosity of the good people on this board. This country may be going to hell but its really good to know that there are good souls out there...

I have very little to offer... in fact my donation will be pathetic but I still want to give something.... will keep eyes peeled for whatever is set up!

Hang in there MoT!!!!!! *big hugs*

oh MOT i really don't know what to say, i am really just echoing the thoughts of the other people on here.
i really can't believe that not only did they not take the medical evience into account but the fact you have 2 children and they still came to the descision that they did.
i'm sorry that i can't offer any more practical advice but i am so gutted for you and the twins.
floss- i think you are right and if there is anything that i can so in any small way then feel free to pm me

I think we need to be careful with setting this sort of thing up on a forum. If anyone from the council is reading this, they can use it as evidence that MOT has external help to find a house, whereas if she doesn't on eviction day, they will have to again find her temp accommodation (B&B etc) because she has children.

I am very sad to hear this rotten news. My heart goes out to you, MoT, and the children.

I have been impressed by your dignity throughout and really do believe that you have been "let down by the system" . I am ashamed of a system where politically correct weasel worded local government hides behind policy and criteria to leave a good but currently debilitated mother and her children homeless.

Plainly as a taxpayer and voter I have no influence whatsoever as to what my taxes pay for, and how publicly financed services treat their customers:mad: , so as a private citizen I strongly feel it is time that you are given back the self determination about where you and the children live so that you can build a stable home and recover your health and privacy.

All of that in itself will be a challenge and I can hardly imagine where you will get the energy from, so please accept the offer from your friends here on MSE to contribute to ensure you have the gift of the 'start up' funds you need. I would be delighted to help in this way.

This is not a charitable act on my part but a gift from me to you, from one friend to another. Please let me and other who have said that they wouldlike to do this for you.

    God Bless, take care.

I've just spoken to one of MoT's twins (MoT was driving).

Apparently, none of the evidence about her health (physical or mental) was taken into account.
MoT will find out whether she can appeal when she's spoken to her solicitor, any appeal must be on a point of law.
I think that's a total disgrace! The evidence about her physical & mental health is vital to her case - it's what separates her from those that are intentionally homeless! What's the point of her being entitled to get assessments done if they're then going to ignore them??? It's totally beyond me.

As for the fund for MOT, I think the safest bet all round would be to set up an account for her in someone else's name, i.e. I-T's, & he can give her the cashpoint card & PIN. Apart from possible problems with her benefits that payments into an account with her name on it might cause, a brand new account will give her access to the account using a cashpoint card at the very least, which will (a) allow her to get the money out when she needs it, & (b) not leave her open to the effects of action/inaction by Paypal. I-T can pass on details of how to pay money in by PM with the help of people like Ampersand, SF etc - I don't think it would be a good idea to post any details about the account in the forum for goodness knows who to see. I don't have much, but I have a job, a secure roof over my head & I can look forward to the future, something MOT will have difficulty doing at the moment. I'm therefore more than happy to donate towards the fund - what's happened to MOT could happen to any of us. :(

Having said that, we need to wait for MOT to give the go ahead - her head will be in a spin today, & how she feels today could be different in a few days & different again a few days after that. :( She needs time to take this all in, especially as while she's doing that she's got to look for somewhere else for them all to live. She's got enough to think about without also having to worry about offending anyone here if she turns the offer down. The suggestion has been made & she knows about it, so I think we should leave things like that until we hear from her or I-T on it.
  • While it is lovely that everyone wants to help it may end up causing more stress than it eases. Has it even been cleared by the board guides.
