Expected to be absent for a few days after Saturday, but hey ho...
mot - in a time akin to your dark moments now, I happened into a Charity Shop.
From the shelves, a tatty drab spine called to me - thus, I found Marge Piercy's volume 'My Mother's Body'.
http://www.margepiercy.com/main-pages/biography.htm
If any of you need to skip these occasional poems I post, apologies now, but this is for mot's future:Colors Passing Through UsPurple as tulips in May, mauve
into lush velvet, purple
as the stain blackberries leave
on the lips, on the hands,
the purple of ripe grapes
sunlit and warm as flesh.
Every day I will give you a color,
like a new flower in a bud vase
on your desk. Every day
I will paint you, as women
color each other with henna
on hands and on feet.Red as henna, as cinnamon,
as coals after the fire is banked,
the cardinal in the feeder,
the roses tumbling on the arbor
their weight bending the wood
the red of the syrup I make from petals.Orange as the perfumed fruit
hanging their globes on the glossy tree,
orange as pumpkins in the field,
orange as butterflyweed and the monarchs
who come to eat it, orange as my
cat running lithe through the high grass.Yellow as a goat's wise and wicked eyes,
yellow as a hill of daffodils,
yellow as dandelions by the highway,
yellow as butter and egg yolks,
yellow as a school bus stopping you,
yellow as a slicker in a downpour. Here is my bouquet, here is a sing
song of all the things you make
me think of, here is oblique
praise for the height and depth
of you and the width too.
Here is my box of new crayons at your feet.Green as mint jelly, green
as a frog on a lily pad twanging,
the green of cos lettuce upright
about to bolt into opulent towers,
green as Grand Chartreuse in a clear
glass, green as wine bottles.Blue as cornflowers, delphiniums,
bachelors' buttons. Blue as Roquefort,
blue as Saga. Blue as still water.
Blue as the eyes of a Siamese cat.
Blue as shadows on new snow, as a spring
azure sipping from a puddle on the blacktop.Cobalt as the midnight sky
when day has gone without a trace
and we lie in each other's arms
eyes shut and fingers open
and all the colors of the world
pass through our bodies like strings of fire.Marge Piercy############
She was born in 1936, is remarkable for much more than her poetry and novels and I wish to meet her before before neither of us can.
I'll do it somehow. I commend 'We make nice', too and the poems comprising 'Six Under-rated Pleasures'.

Thank you all, having just watched the re-run of How to Look Good Naked from last wednesday I feel that a session with Gok Wan is a priority for me! Oh for the confidence build up of a session with him:T.
Off to bed now to rest my weary head and hope that tonight the thoughts will stop spinning when I wake for the twice nightly trip to the bathroom - the menopause has a lot to answer for:mad:

Just sent a very polite "how rude are you?" email to the other 2 Councillors & Chief Exec :
Good Evening,
I am writing to request an acknowledgement to the email I sent on Wednesday 5th December regarding my friend Julia Davies and her family.
I appreciate that you are busy, but when the subject matter of the email was as important as this, I am sure that in my shoes you would wish to know that your email has at least been read, even if you are not prepared to act upon it.
I find myself quite appalled at your collective lack of courtesy.

Hi MOT
There's not much i can say in terms of practical advice, but just wanted to say that in terms of being depressed i have been where you are ( i know it was different circumstances but i know how crippling it can be when you feel that you really can't pick yourself up after another knock back) so if you need a (nother!) shoulder to cry on when you feel really down you can always PM me
really hope things start to look up for you and the twins really soonThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

Now now, dear [patronisingly]
A little touch of calm...and a nice lie-down. That's what happens to you girlies when you worry your pretty little heads over Men's Work.
Brenda was on good form again tonight - 'wrong kind of sand' and question of The Funny Place Where That Order Is Worn. Recipient NEARLY fell in - it was hanging there, almost said, when the answer came - 'on your back'. Sweet mischief.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Good evening to you all,
It's late, but I'm copying post 1379 from the EVICTION NOTICE SERVED Thread and written by the friend who accompanied Julia to the meeting with Mr Penning.
Treat it as a starting point for you as a working trio tomorrow.
Do come back to me if you need further help.
Kind regards,
Kamate! Kamate!
#######################Sorry this is late.
The MP was very positive. In brief he said he had read all MOT's papers that she had forwarded to him and whilst he could see that on rent arrears alone the LA had justification for declaring her intentionally homeless, he did not feel they had fulfilled their duty of care to a vulnerable family. He said that they had not taken due consideration of MOT's GP report and also that they were wrong to try and rely on a report from NOW Medical who simply wrote their report on the basis of a form completed by the GP. Neither had the LA given due attention to NOW's contention that it would be 'prudent to arrange for a phsycitric examination.' They (LA) had also failed to pass this information to MOT. MP said whilst Housing was not part of his remit he was prepared to fight in MOT's corner. To this end he would be speaking to the Chief Exec of the Council. He suggested we write a letter detailing the LA's failings with regard to the medical report and for not taking due consideration of the effect MOT's depression had on her inability to manage her finances. He said we could let him see the letter first so that he could suggest any changes; that this letter should be sent to the LA this week and that he would also write a letter to them. He said that we were now 'At War' and he expected that she would be offered accomodation. He did however say that what they offered may not be to her liking, be insufficient accomodation for her needs and possible in a not very nice area but, she should accept whatever they offered and then he would campaign on her behalf for better accomodation on the basis of unsuitability. He also added that he believed the temporary accomodation MOT and the twins were in now was illegal in view of the ages of the twins and their different gender; that they should not be sharing the same bedroom. He told MOT not to worry about eviction from this temporary flat as he would personally ensure the LA complied with their duty of care. It was amazingly positive and more than either of us expected. He seems a really genuine man and was horrified by MOT's treatment. Let us hope he wasn't talking through the orifice in his derriere.

Mr Penning - 3 URGENT questions:
What happened when you spoke with Daniel Zammit?
Have you had a response to your letter?
What steps have you taken to stop the Eviction, which is next Monday?

Just sent this to MP
Good morning Mike,
3 URGENT questions:
What happened when you spoke with Daniel Zammit?
Have you had a response to your letter?
What steps have you taken to stop the Eviction, which is next Monday?
This is all now so urgent and I would appreciate a phone call to let me know what is happening please.
Kind regards,
******
and this is a copy of what I sent last Friday:Hello Mike,I hope that you have received the above document and have been able to reply to it and contact the Chief Executive. However, there has been a change to my situation in that my solicitor has now arranged for me to have a psychiatric report done next Wednesday 12th Dec. She then rang the Head of the Housing department to be told by her that I didn't need that report - that is not what the NowMedical report says! My solicitor has also requested a postponement of the appeal date and also a postponement of our eviction from the temporary accomodation. ***** said in no uncertain terms that come what may we WILL have to leave this temporary accomodation on the 17th December - so Mike, where do we go????Please, please, please will you intervene and see what you can do to stop this nightmare that is our life?Thank you,Lets see what happens now eh?Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
