I-T you are a legend and MOT is sooo lucky to have you. if you need me there ont 17th let me know, the more the merrier hey. xx

Thanks Pania, if it comes to it we'll get the Press there too, that should embarass the hell out of DBC! Evicting a family in desperate straits is terrible at the best of times but at Christmas! Maybe they'd like MOT & the Twins to wear sack cloth and ashes and have them living on the steps of the Town Hall holding begging bowls! Sorry folks but my normal placid cool has been heated up by the LA's outrageous behaviour and attitude.icon8.gif

Apparently, Rog, she did used to be a member of the law and still seems to think she is!

The one word that keeps springing to my mind is - 'attitude'. Seems that this is one thing your council is not short of, mot.

I'm hoping that Monday morning will see the Hemel Gazette article dropped on Nazma Abdul Karim's (Head of the Housing department) desk with a post-it from her boss attached with just two words on it:

i will get my 'nazma' voodoo doll out for you over the weekend
how about getting the media at your house on 17th so if the grinch and henchmen turn up they can catch it live.

  • Well MOT, the twins and I had a great time decorating the tree & my lounge yesterday whilst we listened to Christmas music and MOT and I supped some mulled wine; didn't have any mince pies sadly. I cooked a nice curry later though. icon7.gif So, a nice relaxing Sunday for us all, then whilst DD & DS go off to their grandad's MOT and I are invited to dinner with my Dad & Sister. Hope you are all well. MOT (who is still asleep) had a call last night from the Councillor so she will no doubt be back with you soon for an update.

If only I could have faith in that quote:confused: !

Yes as I-T said Lab Councillor, Michael Moore, rang to update me with various things such as he has spoken to a former mayor of the town and got some advice re: appeal and is trying to get hold of someone he knows who is very up to date with housing law. We have arranged to meet at the flat on Friday - MM, I-T and myself - to go through info ready for the appeal. With reagrd to my solicitor phoning to extend appeal date MM said that his former Mayoral contact said to expect the LA not to agree the appeal extension and that any evidence that comes in after will be too late!! Lets hope that the psychiatrist can get his report done pronto and that the solicitor ias able to extend appeal AND moving date!

I'd have thought you have sufficient grounds for the appeal extension, especially seeing as the council delayed asking for the psychiatric assessment even after NOW Medical told them they felt it was necessary. The very least they should allow you is however many working days elapsed between them getting the Now Medical report advising further assessment & it actually being requested, plus the Bank Holidays over Christmas & New Year. But quite apart from the disruption & upset moving will cause you at this time of year, administratively it makes little sense anyway. Everyone's trying to clear work ready for the Christmas break or put off to the new year what can be delayed. It's totally unfair that the council could stop you including a psychiatric assessment that they should have requested & didn't, leaving you facing the possibility that the assessment may not get done in time. :(

Someone needs to get back to the psychiatrist & tell them you've heard the council won't allow their report to be included unless it's received before your appeal date.

The way this council are behaving, you'd think there was a rota for having you to stay in their own homes. I hope for their sake they never meet the difficulties you've had & never have to rely on 'the system' to help them.

Actually WDIAG, I have to disagree with you on this point. I actually hope they, or a close relative, DO meet this situation but without the support, as I want them to know what it's like. Seems to be the only way a little humanity might become evident
