-join a club, any club (I really regret not doing this)

    The pudding club?
  • Bloody hell Mum!
And stop watching This Morning - it's Sh1t3!

I think you need not worry unduly, but it's a good idea to remind other parents that children mature at different rates.

Also the assorted costs of an unexpected pregnancy land harder on the lass, so it makes plenty of sense to double check understanding.

I'll hold my hands up - as mother of sons, I worry plenty, but have been told in no uncertain terms to "keep out of their nonexistent sex life". I still leave the stash of condoms in the downstairs loo just in case & to the devil with what visiting professionals (gasman, plumber etc) think.

I wouldn't listen to this tv version of Take a Break magazine, that basically thinks all its viewers are thick........ :rotfl:

You've summed it up perfectly, Peter.
  • I used to be a school nurse. The girls at all girls schools were always far more sexually active then the girls at mixed schools, and usually started at a much younger age too. Obviously I'm generalising but it did seem to be a trend.

Just to put this into context, my local university (of 2, but I don't want to do extra maths) has 13,000 students.

A conservative half are female (it's actually higher), discounting a minority for LGBT, 6,000 would be a respectable estimate for heterosexual female students.

Discounting totally 'repeat offenders', it seems unlikely that the percentage is actually that high, that your friend sees. You didn't give a number, but I doubt less than 10 a week would be 'shocking', that's 2 a day which seems likely from my own experiences (both at uni and working in healthcare now), lets go with 20 a week, that's 500 in an academic year, which is approx. 8% of the total heterosexual female populace.

I'm just saying its hardly an epidemic :)

Even one is quite shocking these days.:(

Unless they are only 12 I think this is highly unlikely. I went to an all-girls school back in the Dark Ages and our conversation at school tended to revolve round boys, etc. We used to be able to switch from naive schoolgirls once we walked out of the front door at home.... and I don't think this was unusual then, and certainly with more information, social media, etc isn't unusual now!

We used to talk about boys but very little about sex.

Both her older sibs think it's hysterical that their dweeb sister needs a 'chat'. This is much hilarity and the FB Famchat is moving too fast for me to join in! Tucker Minor is taking a ripping!!:rotfl:

I worried about all the wrong things - nothing really bad happened;) well, not much that couldn't be fixed and forgotten about! We all make mistakes! - I married their Dad:rotfl::rotfl: They find that funny too!!:p

If you find these chats difficult, one trick is to talk in the car, so you don't have to look at each other and can all face the road.

Another option is to start the talk on Whats App/ messenger etc.

Lol -this last year has been a defining one! I taught Tucker Minor to drive but despite being a freaking genius at most things, she failed her test 4 times:eek::eek: Much frustration to be dealt with!! No time for sex talk just life lessons and extreme patience!!

I use Messenger to send pictures of the cats and reassure her that they are missing her as much as she misses them:rotfl:

I remember finding condoms and phamplets when she had a melt down after losing her retainer but every child gets condoms in the sixth form even if they wear braces and look 12:rotfl::rotfl:

At 18 I couldn't think of much worse (or more embarrassing) than my parents buying condoms for me. My boyfriend's mother buying him condoms would have been equally weird
