Thanks for the reply guys. The hole was actually done by me, when the piece fell of from the tomato juice carton i thought it might be a square piece of carton cardboard base.i couldn't figure it out what it was as it was all covered red by tomato juice. Thus i poked with my finger to find out what it was.0

I had the pleasure of looking at a member of staff's highly visible thong last time I was up there, which would have been ok under different circumstances. She was about 50 with a fake tan and must have been about a size-22.
you must've been to my local store!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

I'm sorry, I thought my last post may have been a bit harsh. But now I have read this ...:rolleyes:
Gone ... or have I?0 -
Being cynical, I would suggest the hole was made when you tried to force the slice of ham INTO the carton, of course that can't possibly be the case as you would never have ham in the house being Hindu.0

Hand on heart, i would honestly admit, i have never touched any meat in my life, untill i touched this one unknowingly, but since i found out it was ham, i have just left it in a plastic carry bag.
Sorry to say, but I know its very easy to think that i am trying to make this up to claim compensation from tesco, but i have never had any problems with TESCO, as i have been drinking these juices from tesco for last year or so, and was very happy to pay a bit more as long as they are 100% pure.0 -
Hi,
I bought pure tomato juice (Tesco own make) a week ago, and when me and my wife where having it, a slice of ham feel from it. Me and my wife have been vegetarian all our life (We are Hindu), and after looking at the ham slice falling from the juice carton, my wife has been feeling sick. We have been having this juice since last January, and we also buy orange, pineapple pure juices from tesco. I took the ham slice down to the store and they confirmed that its a slice of some skin. I am just worried, this can happen to anyone and how can we make sure that all the pure/vegetarian juices do not have any meat traces in them?
I am furious about this, but don't know how and what can i ask as a compensation from tesco ? can i sue tesco for hurting
our religious feelings? has anyone ever got any compensation like this before ? I am thinking of hiring a solicitor and claim a hefty compensation from tesco, along with publishing this tragic incident with pictures in local/national newspapers.
I would appreciate all the help.
1. report the problem to Tesco
2. go to local environmental health dept at your council
The number one issue here is Food safety and Quality Control -
ham in a carton of juice is a serious issue before any consideration of religion or lifestyle choices. Yes it was additionally distressing to have found the ham due to your religion but this is a contamination issue and not some deliberate attack on a religion. All customers would be upset to find ham in juice regardless of their religion. Remember this is a contaminant - not a deliberate attempt to upset vegetarians or Muslims.
Was the carton's tamper proof seal intact?
I am trying to work out how the ham got into the carton as the places that fill the cartons would have used automatical filling machines with inline filters as many of these juices come from bulk containers of concentrates which are mixed with potable water. The cartons I believe come flat packed and are made to shape on a filling machine line.
The ham would have had to have been inserted by a human deliberately. It is all mind boggling, yes contamination does occur but this seems very odd.Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -

Tragic incident? I don't think so. 9/11 was tragic, 7/7 was tragic. Madeleine McCann going missing is tragic. A piece of meat in a carton of juice is gross but not tragic.
I'd save yourself some money here and give Tesco the opportunity to offer some form of compensation before hiring solicitors. Personally, I am quite dubious about this but if it is true, I am quite sure that you were not personally targeted, with the aim of hurting your religious feelings.0 -
Hi.
Sorry to put a damper on the situayion, I can see where your coming from re the ham and your religion, but as for compensationIm afraid you would not stand an earthly.
Firstly - the ham obviuosly looks like ite been put in on theproduction line somewhere - I can only presume somebodies idea of a joke - though I do not agree with it.
Secondly - They would argue that there was a shelf etc of juices and you choose that one
Thirdly - Your religion is your own choice ( not meant as offensive,) therefore if joe bloggs had the same experience they would only be able to go through the same process.
If you have notifies Tesco, then your next option is Environmental Health, there may be aprosecution of the company that produces the product, but as a consumer you will only recieve vouchers.
I think you need to chalk it up to experience.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
If it's your strong religious feelings that are offended I don't see how they can be bought with compensation.
I'm sure somethings don't have a ££ value.
you also say the hole in the 'ham' was caused my your finger prodding to see what it was....you have one huge finger!Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
This is clearly a wind up
1) that slice of ham could not have fallen out
2) the OP's wording
I conclude hes yet another !!!! trying to get something for nothing using the discrimination act
Worse case scenario it was a mistake at the manfacturing plant, its certainly not sectarian as you claim and what damages do you have?
You'd rightly be laughed out of court0
