HELP!!! Tesco pure Juice with Ham slice!!

Hi,
I bought pure tomato juice (Tesco own make) a week ago, and when me and my wife where having it, a slice of ham feel from it. Me and my wife have been vegetarian all our life (We are Hindu), and after looking at the ham slice falling from the juice carton, my wife has been feeling sick. We have been having this juice since last January, and we also buy orange, pineapple pure juices from tesco. I took the ham slice down to the store and they confirmed that its a slice of some skin. I am just worried, this can happen to anyone and how can we make sure that all the pure/vegetarian juices do not have any meat traces in them?
I am furious about this, but don't know how and what can i ask as a compensation from tesco ? can i sue tesco? has anyone ever got any compensation like this before ? I am thinking of hiring a solicitor and claim a compensation from tesco, along with publishing this incident with pictures in local/national newspapers.
I would appreciate all the help.

Yuk! What did you do with it? I personally would have contacted environmental health. Are they sure its not some kind of mould?July Win: Nokia 58000

Gosh ... I'm also a vegetarian but not because of religious reasons. I would equally have been upset by this incident. Similarly to your wife, I also feel nauseous, and on occasion have vomitted if I have accidentally eaten any meat / meat products (apparently if you're vegetarian long enough you build up an immunity to meat).
Presuming you still have the offending article (might be worth freezing it??), I would suggest that in the first instance a strongly worded letter to Tesco expressing the upset this has caused to you both.
If you have expectations of compensation, I think it would be helpful to let them know this, as opposed to simply requiring a formal apology.
For a banana spider in a bunch of bananas I received a replacement bunch of bananas .... it depends what you're expectation is.
I hope your wife feels better soon0 -
Have you kept the offending item?Gone ... or have I?0

:rotfl: :rotfl:You're as cynical as me
Although, rolled up it would be possible
Whats with the hole in the ham?
Was there a rat in the carton having a nibble?:D
Sorry.Fellow [STRIKE]vegetable[/STRIKE] veggie here too and would have been mortified if I found 'that' in my carton of juice.
As I do have a sense of humour I'd attempt to convince my self that seeing as it looks like processed ham stuff then there wont be much meat in it anywaysSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I am thinking of hiring a solicitor and claim a hefty compensation from tesco, along with publishing this tragic incident with pictures in local/national newspapers.
Hefty compensation for what? Has someone died?
Tragic? eh?
Tesco (or more likely the actual manufacturer) might get a fine if that REALLY did come out of the carton, however you should quite rightly get laughed out of court and get to pay your own costs if you try and get compensation.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
