Well I've just got back from Chester ...

Chester itself is lovely, we'll definitely be going back.

The hotel was more than adequate, but I wouldn't rate it a 4*. We only dealt with one receptionist during our stay, but she was quite lovely and very helpful.

One negative point, the hotel rang me a taxi when I was leaving, which took me to the train station. He charged me the correct fare (£4.60), and I gave him a £20 note. He gave me change for a £10 note. I told him of his 'mistake', and he denied it (I only had £20 notes on me, so I am in no doubt as to what I gave him). Unfortunately at this point I was on my own (mum was still shopping!), so I didn't have anyone to back me up. However, I got his taxi registration number, so I am going to report him to the council licencing dept and the hotel (he works for their regular taxi company). Horrid man!
    Gone ... or have I?

Just thought i would update people, just had my stay in the ascot hotel.
Was given a normal double rather than the executive room, but did not want to argue! Had a nice meal there (although would not recommend the broccoli soup!)
On checkout was only charged for meal and entertainment package for the tv.

I stayed at the Ramada Gatwick 17th November and had no problems.

Apart from the distance of the Hotel to the town centre.

MarkyMarkD... a. As far as I am aware the uk version of the Expedia website includes VAT, but willing to be proven wrong...

    b. If this was indeed the case I am sure Ramada would have noticed as they tried every other trick to try and squirm out of honouring the claims, as you can tell by looking through this lengthy thread!!

I do know that as soon as Ramada started to get the claims coming in Expedia swiftly increased their prices !!

    :D
I reckon you're right. It certainly wasn't always the case for all hotel booking websites and it certainly seemed like a good explanation!
  • Still not had any luck trying to find a room at Days Inn , Birmingham on new years eve for cheaper than the £59 specificied on the DI website.

Any ideas which sites I should be looking at to try and find a cheaper deal, and is it just Days Inn that are doing this promotion?

I've just had another look using www.hotelscomparison.com and I still cannot find anything cheaper than the Days Inn site's price. I don't think you're going to get this one as a freebie I'm afraid.

  • Well I'm willing to keep trying in the hope that nearer the time one site or other will drop their prices :)

Do Ramada still offer this first night free guarantee in the UK?
