    Good!

Don't want to make it sound like a conspiracy, - it was probably a genuine error on their behalf - but no harm in double checking!

Did you book on the Ramada.co.uk site? They only work If you book through ramada.com
  • No I booked at ramada.com not co.uk, if you look at their T & C's it says only in the US and Canada. They must have updated them or something?

They always were going to close the loophole at some point. I'm surprised they didn't just end the First Night Free Promise.

Just received this Word document attached to an e-mail from the hotel, in respect of one of my original (successful) claims last week, for which I had already had confirmation that it was going to be free.
I am writing to you in connection with the reservation that you have at Ramada xxxxxxx for Thursday 27th September 2007 for 1 Night

The reservation has been made on “free night per best rate program”, which Jarvis Hotels are unable to honour these reservations. Unfortunately this rate is not a best rate guarantee, due to the terms and conditions of the accommodation rate

Therefore we will be unable to honour your free night stay with the hotel, and the rate will be amended back to the rate of £104.00 room only, which was the rate available for an executive room for 27th September 2007.

Please can you contact the hotel directly, with a credit card number to guarantee the reservation. If we have not heard from you by 2.00pm (local time) on Thursday 27th September 2007 then the room will be released.

If you need any further assistance, then please contact me directly.

    Yours sincerely

The paragraph I've highlighted in green just doesn't make any sense to me.

Besides the appalling grammar, it just sounds like vague waffle. It doesn't actually say WHY they've done a U-turn. WHICH of the "terms and conditions" are they referring to?

How dare they try and pull a stunt like this at 24 hours notice.

    Chester.

Even if there was something in their T&Cs to get them off the hook (which there isn't), the fact remains that the offer of a free room was made on 18 Sep. This offer came from their head office and was binding as far as I'm concerned.

They can't then turn round on 26 Sep (24 hours before the stay), and rescind the offer, as it leaves me in the position where I've made other arrangements for my stay which will leave me out of pocket if I cancel (e.g. time booked off work, theatre tickets).

Silly, silly Ramada, trying to pull a fast one.

It is unreasonable. Have you checked your booking online to see if they have changed the price?
