If I upset anyone about highlighting the fact that some people (no-one in particular) ask for a thanks I'm sorry.

Now all at once. SMACK THEM THANKS BUTTONS LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW

its from a while back in the Tesco misprice thread. People were moaning about not getting thanks or only having 2 people thanking them when they thought they should have got post of the century for saving you 1p on a tin of beans.

Needs updating now. Just forgot to change it
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.

I am going to write a strong letter complaint to the head office of Ramada / Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as I feel their reasons for not honouring claims that have been followed to the letter are not sufficient enough to reject claims. I am also going to enlighten them on the appalling customer service and rudeness I received last night on the telephone. I know they'll love to hear from me, however, I find that a quick letter sent direct to the top usually receives a well balanced reply.

It's more to let them know how you can't just make up ridiculous rules as you go when customers have followed claim T&C's to the letter; than about a free hotel room night.

What's that saying about a woman scorned? ;)

As per THIS post, I decided to put the Best Rate Guarantee from Ramada Jarvis into action. I have today received the following reply:-

    Dear GlennTheBaker

Thank you for your claim form regarding your booking at Ramada Newton Park. I have investigated this and we are able to offer you a rate that matches the rate you have booked as it is currently available. I will make the necessary amendments to your booking. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

What a cop out! Below are the screen shots I took at the time of booking. First of all, the booking page on www.ramadajarvis.co.uk.........

    ramadajarvisnewtonpark6vs8.jpg

........and now the booking screen from www.ramada.com.

I've replied stating that the terms of their Best Rate Guarantee say the first night is free if you find a cheaper rate, not that they will simply match it with some imaginary cheaper rate. The rate I booked is still showing as the best available rate on the Ramada Jarvis website now.

I'll update again in due course.

  • Another update, I've received the following reply:-

    Good Afternoon GlennTheBaker

Thank you for your response. The rate I have offered you is a limited offer and I have secured this rate for you which was available through the Jarvis Call Centre at the time of your claim. This is also within the terms and conditions as copied below.

"If there is a rate available on ramadajarvis.co.uk or through the Ramada Jarvis Call Centre number that is the same or lower than the rate on the other website, the Ramada Jarvis rate will be offered instead."

I have amended your booking to show this rate. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

It appears that if they receive a successful claim, they simply invent a rate that was available at the time and apply that rate instead, as taxiphil suggested they might.

This is a reply I just received:- its a new one I think!! have replied to say that all rates offered were inc breakfast so in effect they are advertising a best rate policy which is impossible to claim on! Also said that adding breakfast to a hotel is not a "package" . Also mentioned that it seemed to be false advertising!!

will update when i get a reply !! this is a fun game!

"Thank you for contacting the Days Inn Customer Care Department regarding the
Days Inn Guaranteed Best Available Rate. We appreciate your choice of Days Inn
    for your lodging needs.

The Guarantee applies only to published rates available to the general public.
Group rates, corporate rates, wholesale rates, affinity/association rates or
rates which are part of a travel package which includes more than hotel
    accommodations do not qualify.

The rate you are booked at includes a hot buffet breakfast so it does include
    more than hotel accommodations.

Book with confidence at DaysInn.com with the Guaranteed Best Available Rate.
Enjoy your stay at Days Inn.

    Sincerely,"

Many thanks for letting us know Glenn.

What a complete farce their policy is! This means they will never have to honour any claims!

I wonder if it really would have been offered at that cheaper rate of £130 if you'd originally phoned their Call Centre to get a quote without mentioning the policy.... somehow I doubt it.

Like you say, they seem to have invented that price retrospectively.

They've created a win-win situation for themselves, as it's impossible for a customer to prove they wouldn't have offered it cheaper via the Call Centre, unless we are supposed to record our telephone conversations with them to validate our claims?!
  • Sod it, I can't be arsed to fight them on this one. They're just going to insist that this rate was available from the call centre at the time. I'll just make sure I get the most out the free stays that were approved!

OK... my curiosity got the better of me on this one!....

I just phoned 0845 2070 100 and was quoted £145 for a Double Bed Exec room on 6 Oct at Newton Park.

Me: "So £145 is your lowest price?"
    Ramada: "Yes sir"

So it looks like they're engaged in some very duplicitous behaviour - coming up with fictional retrospective prices to avoid honouring claims.
